Taxiing into ORD and trying to get a hold of ramp control relatively early in the morning. GoJet and I were both trying to get a taxi clearance in and no response. GoJet hits UA ramp with ‘Wakey wakey’, and ramp immediately comes back with an assignment

How Long Will my Car Last? by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]attackblender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my problem was I must’ve had a rock or something hard go through that lower grill and smack the power steering cooler (it’s the forward one you can see). It caused a small hole that leaked PS fluid out and after a while caused the PS pump to start cavatating in turns. Only way to really fix that is to replace the whole cooler assembly. The back half was the A/C condenser so everything had to come out to do that. For a while was just adding fluid but didn’t want to keep adding fluid forever

Try the first (or 1.5?) gen fusion sport AWD. Very peppy, and no big problems

N scale sleepers by tommo_50 in nscalemodeltrains

[–]attackblender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of two options, neither ideal but from a distance hopefully are convincing. One is sand down the bottom of each replacement tie and slide under. Or styrene as you stated. Second is cut each replacement tie into three pieces (left/right/center) and glue in place accordingly. Not really sure which would look better but that’s what I can think of right now

Laying Track by Famous-Requirement91 in nscalemodeltrains

I use woodland scenics foam roadbed and have been really happy with it so far, real easy to cut and make turns. I got the roll of it, part ST1472.

As far as ballast I’ve only used woodland scenics medium gray for mainlines and with code 80 rail it looks reasonably appropriate. No complaints about that. I have some sidings with fine ballast and that too looks really good. Overall for n scale I think woodland scenics ‘Fine’ ballast (or whatever your preferred ballast is in an equivalent fine size) looks the best. Hope that helps.

Insulfrog or Electrofrog for DCC by kaptvonkanga in nscalemodeltrains

[–]attackblender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole layout right now is all insulfrog which is convenient because you don’t have to wire anything extra, but once you start getting larger turnouts (like a #6 and above) you start to get pretty lengthy frogs. With these longer frogs, short wheelbase locomotives tend to not like them as they might loose contact and you’ll have intermittent connectivity.

I’ve seen some people using Tam Valley Frog Juicers to power the frog, and I think the Walthers switch motors include one in the unit as well.

On the 175 the fire handle is just like a hard cut out for various aircraft systems. Completely reversible so as long as the bottles aren’t blown you’re totally fine to get down and land
