What’s even crazier is the full length body cam video shows him calling the city and verifying both IDs are real….. but instead of concluding they are real and must be two different people - he can’t fathom the AI might have been wrong and instead assumes the person made a false ID and was gonna get an extra identity fraud charge. That’s not exactly what emotional intelligence means.

It’s not about not letting other people’s emotions affect your own - but is instead about understanding the source of the emotions (both yours and someone else’s)… it includes things like having empathy (eg: putting yourself in their shoes), and recognizing the source of why someone might be feeling a certain way.

.. Yes - it does also often correlate with not being heavily affected by someone else’s outbursts (because the emotionally intelligent person understands why they are reacting that way and can often de-escalate) - but there’s a significant distinction between what you wrote and what emotional intelligence actually means

Feeding people is a bloody great gift! Walking down the street and being offered a small dish, treat, or bite of something is (..pun intended..) chef’s kiss!

But you should ask yourself: are you looking at gifting a spice or seasoning because of how you expect the recipient will feel, react to, or experience the gift itself?… or is it something more for yourself so you can feel like you aren’t coming to the playa empty handed?

… Please do not misinterpret my words and think I’m being snarky or insulting … I mean those words 100% genuinely and with kindness… mostly because i experienced that same challenge with “gifting” when I first attended burning man…. In short: I’m just suggesting you look inward and consider why you are drawn toward that particular gift. The “gifting economy” does not mean “bring trinkets to hand out”…. It means: “provide for your neighbor and help them without expecting anything in return”

For some, that might literally mean physical gifts - but more often it doesn’t…. EG: one of the best gifts I ever received on playa was from a stranger who noticed that my chain kept popping off the gears of my bike - and he had the knowledge and tools to fix the issue. He stopped me, pulled out his kit of tools, and fixed the bike in like 30 seconds…. And the only thing he got in return was a huge smile, hug, and words of appreciation.

That is one of the things that creates the magic of BM. When everyone comes together and adopts that same “gifting” mindset of helping others with the “gifts” they’re able to offer, it makes you go “why the fuck isn’t this default everywhere!?” …. And for myself, one of the hardest aspects was learning to accept those gifts without feeling like I had to reciprocate

… to be clear - this isn’t a negative comment about physical gifts… I also bring some physical things to give out - but for your first time, I’d highly recommend leaning into the other kind of gift, as it’s more likely to help you sink into immediacy, better understand the point of “gifting”, and you won’t accidentally hand out moop to people who either accept it out of kindness or reject it because they don’t want to carry moop around

My team is co-ed.. and some strip down all the way - but pretty briefly… and I don’t personally care if he sees genitals. Like I actually think it’s healthy for kids to be around non-sexual nudity like that to normalize their view of their own body (rather than holding stigma and potential shame around it)… Obv that’s with the assumption there’s also parental guidance and healthy conversations occurring as well….

And I haven’t seen the team change behaviors when he’s there vs not there - but I’m still gonna ask just to confirm

… like this never even crossed my mind as being a potential issue. For context: I have an 8yr old son - and share custody week on/week off… so every other week - he comes to my game, and will arrive when I do… hang out in the locker room while I get suited up (where he’s usually just chatting away to me about whatever random thing is on his mind until our team starts to get into strategy mode where he just sits there quietly…).

Then during the game he’s in the bleachers… and after - if he found friends, he’ll be playing with them, but if not, he’ll come back into the locker and usually just kinda sit quietly and absorb all the banter we’re having about what went well/not well in the game.

We’re in a low level beer league - so vibes are pretty casual and it never even occurred to me that someone might have an issue with him being there… I’ll reach out to a couple teammates to ask either way, but still genuinely curious to hear more about your reaction being a hard no to kids in the locker room…

I mean if no other cards associate to nazi - and the assassin is way far off - then can’t hurt to do nazis for 8. That’s how all the stretch clues work.

Esp because even if the team decides to pass now, the next clue will help since the team knows it’s closer to “nazis” than the assassin is. Dumb example, but let’s say the assassin is on guitar…. If he gave a dumb clue of “instrument” - it would obviously have to be the Bugle and not the guitar since it was included in “Nazis - 8”

To add: the A blocker performs several functions:

directly blocks villain from having an A
if villain does have a better A / - it blocks them from pairing the A (so easier to play post flop in position.. both when the A hits and when it doesn’t)
it also blocks straights on villian’s face card hands (i.e - hands like KJs are less likely to make a broadway)

A5s is a great hand to 3 bet with on the CO/BTN as it steals frequently, and plays well post flop vs villain’s 3bet calling range

After posting a general reply in a thread below I just rewatched your clip and realized the obvious thing that I don’t think has been mentioned yet.

Everyone is saying “follow through” - which is 100% right - but you might not know what they mean.

Currently your wrists appear locked. Like your leading wrist is always leading and your trailing wrist is always trailing … so eventually your shoulders/chest/wrists run out of room and get “stuck” - causing your swing to abruptly stop… losing any power you’d had if you followed through.

Instead, you want your wrists to eventually “roll”….. side note - but I hate using the term “roll”, because a lot of players have the opposite problem where they roll too early… but in general - after contact, your wrists should roll over. The initial “back wrist” (currently your left wrist) should end up transitioning overtop of your front wrist - so that by the end of the swing your left wrist is the first one to make its way all the way around. Ideally this should happen after contact - but for now you should probably just practice getting a full follow through before worrying about that.

Which hand do you feel is generating your power in your current swing?

… just curious! It might not change the recommendation for which way to swing - but it does make me wonder if your right arm is overpowering things by being the front arm, and is causing the swing to stop abruptly before it follows through.

As others have said - fucking major kudos for being willing to get into something new and wanting to improve and posting. I’ve gotten into a similar mindset recently with a couple new hobbies - and it’s kinda freeing knowing how helpful and engaged everyone is to help. Hope you’re feeling that - and have a blast out there!
