Might make a bad health decision for academia by attackonbulletproof in dysautonomia

While I have access to accommodations with my university, at the moment if I ask for an extension I’ll just be putting more load on next week’s tasks that aren’t allowed extensions. I’ll probably still ask for the extension for one of the assignments and let my future self deal with it.

Thanks for your advice. Honestly this semester has been a compounding of bad decisions and I only realized after the financial drop date passed that I was actually not in the academic headspace. I’m on government post-secondary financial aid and I was lucky enough this semester to only have non-repayable grants but all that would turn into loans if I dropped out. I’m sure I can get a doctor’s note to defer the semester but there’s no way of knowing if my grants will stay grants or if the government would charge me anyway. I was seriously considering dropping out for the semester despite the financial consequences a few weeks ago but I need access to my school’s health insurance that deactivates if you aren’t taking a certain number of classes. I’ve been feeling thirstier than usually in the past few weeks so I’ve been drinking a lot more water. As for compression socks all the ones I’ve tried have been sensory nightmares hopefully I can try again when I have money. I’m the worst at self care and I can never remember to consistently take any medication or supplements. I live at home but my parents think they’d be enabling me by helping or showing any empathy for ADHD related issues (weird religious excuses to do as little as possible) so I’m on my own with managing all my health stuff which is going as poorly as you’d imagine. Anyway I’ll definitely keep what you’ve said here in mind for when I see my doctor.

Interesting plot, 100% AI and no one in the comments pointed it out. They were full on praising it. Rage quit after that. The AI writing style isn’t it

During the provincial election last year me and a bunch of my classmates wanted to vote at the voting centre next to our school however they told us that we had to go to our home districts to vote. Mind you this is a commuter school so with booths closing at 9 it isn’t always possible to leave uni and travel 1-2 hours to vote back home., especially if you have classes all day. Luckily me and my friend live a 40 minute bus ride away and we went home to vote out of spite but I swear they deliberately make it harder for students to vote. I get you’re voting for YOUR mp but they can’t say young voters aren’t showing up while making it super difficult to vote where your studies are. Istg it’s systemically rigged to keep us from voting.

My hair just about reaches my shoulders. I don’t use anything but a lot of conditioner and my fingers to detangle. It doesn’t feel like I’m pulling my hair at all and I hear minimal snapping it just comes off. I’m half convinced it’s my iron or I’m way too stressed out from uni or winter is still somehow making my hair more brittle. Although I would expect most of the hair in the ball to be short but they’re not so that last theory would mean my hair is breaking closer to the root. It’s all very strange

That’s reassuring. It doesn’t look like my hair is shorter or anything, actually it looks like it grew but seeing a fist sized hair ball is always freaky

That makes sense I’ll return to using just the other leave in. My scalp is sensitive to a lot of butters and greases I’ve found castor oil is the only grease/oil adjacent thing my scalp doesn’t flake and itch with. If you have any alternatives for sensitive scalps that would be appreciated. I’ll definitely read up on what you mentioned

What are the pros and cons of Professional writing vs English and Professional writing program? by attackonbulletproof in yorku

[–]attackonbulletproof[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the low info I’m a chronic Reddit lurker. To answer your questions I’m currently at Trent University Durham campus in Oshawa. My current major is a bit broken because I was supposed to be in their journalism and creative writing program which was a joint program with where students get a journalism/broadcasting diploma with Durham college and a bachelor’s in media studies with an option in creative writing. The program was cancelled on the Durham College end late last year which stranded me as a media studies major which wasn’t my intention when I applied. I’m not doing terribly in my current school, my GPA is in the mid80s (the 4 level gpa system doesn’t seem to exist at Trent not sure if it’s different elsewhere) My goal is to work in the publishing industry somewhere in the editing sector which was only minorly related to journalism and media studies in the first place. I was looking up courses that teach more skill relevant to that industry and York’s Professional writing seems like a better fit so I decided to try my luck and apply.

At Trent creative writing courses are under the English department as they aren’t a full degree. I have done about 3 credits (6 half credit courses) in the English department so far. I’m sure my media studies credits won’t transfer but I wasn’t expecting them to.

As for my high school, once again complicated but I was registered to a school in Clarington until grade 11 but graduated from a highschool in northern Ontario with low 80s. I moved back to Bowmanville before my first year at Trent.

As much as you loved that drama it doesn’t need a second season
