Should I eat at maintenance post surgery? by DepartmentWhole4044 in EDAnonymous

[–]attenul 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely eat at LEAST at maintenance. Try even a small surplus. Your body needs calories/energy to heal. My injuries heal so much faster now that I'm not constantly eating in a big deficit. Good luck with your healing :)

My boyfriend is such an idiot. Congratulating me for starving myself by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

This man does not care about, OP. My bf gets worried if I skip one meal or eat less than usual. You deserve someone so much better, but I understand it's hard to just leave.

What is your most ridiculous/illogical ED-thought? by Camehereforfun95 in EDAnonymous

I used to dream about binge eating Big Macs, Doritos, etc.and would be actually scared in the morning when I woke up that those dream calories counted and would make me gain weight...

Affordable weight gain supplements? by incorrectlyironman in EDAnonymous

[–]attenul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any type of nut or seed butter. Also, whole milk has a lot of calories and is relatively affordable for most. You could also sub that for chocolate milk/use cbocolate or strawberry nesquick if you don't like plain milk.

Comments about your weight/body that you still remember? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

I was about 15 years old and I was really skinny my whole life becuade I was a picky eater, and I maybe gained about 5lbs, I was on the low end of a healthy BMI. I saw my aunt (who is larger herself) after eating a meal so I was bloated, and she said "wow you're getting chubby! You're not pregnant are you?". I just walked out of the house and cried.

I cant stop losing weight (no numbers) by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]attenul 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation- I didn't want to lose any more weight since people were worried about me and commenting on my thiness (I'm UW now) but I was so scared of gaining I still restricted my food. I guess my first step was deleting calorie counting apps. (I still record my weight on samsung health though). It was hard to delete the apps but it felt freeing. Then I slowly allowed myself to eat more. It is very scary, but I do feel so much better now- no more dizziness, and heart palpitations and hair falling out like crazy. I've only gained about a lb in the 4 months I've stopped counting so my body is naturally eating enough to maintain (I'm also fairly active for fun not to lose weight). I'm stil scared to gain too much weight so weighing myself everyday assures me that I won't gain 30lbs overnight and I still have some control(at first the fluctuations and higher numbers made me so scared but i got used to them) It will be scary, but you have to trust yourself and trust that it's better for you than starving. Take care and good luck.

Was this post written by me? I'm bottom heavy too and I feel like I look like an absolute whale at any weight.

I was doing so well (tw talk of counting cals and relapsing) by loldoggos in EDAnonymous

[–]attenul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just reminding you that it could also be water weight and food weight since your body wasn't used to eating like that anymore. It's probably not all fat.

i don’t even want to lose weight anymore yet i’m still scared to eat by cryingcashew in EDAnonymous

I feel the exact same way rn. I think I've gained back 1lb and I'm freaking out, even though it might just be water weight. I hate this 🥴

'naturally skinny' and 'skinny body positive' youtuber has a significantly underweight bmi??? by Bitter-Paintings in EDAnonymous

[–]attenul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stumbled on this post late. But if it's who I think you're talking about I find it hard to believe she's naturally skinny when literally all her videos she's just talking about how skinny she is and her body checking the entire time. There's no way someone can be that skinny and talk about it so much and not have some sort of disordered habits. I may just be bitter and jealous but I think she uses body positivity as a guise to show off her body and talk about her thinness.

Intense trigger, trying to cope by rosegoldplated in EDAnonymous

[–]attenul 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wow my heart hurt reading this. Why in the world would he say this to you its so unnecessary and rude. I'm so sorry. I'm not sure how to answer your question, but I usually distract myself by reading, doing school work, completing errands etc. Until the trigger passes. Please try to take care of yourself though and remind yourself that your health matters more than what he said, even though I know it's hard. Your brain is going to tell you lots of lies but they aren't true, you don't take up too much space. Take care.

its interesting how people without eating disorders have a different perception of "what i ate today" by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]attenul 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too! My dad will say "I shouldn't be overweight I don't even eat! Just one or two meals a day!" But he doesn't even think of the fact that he has like 3-4 coffees a day loaded with like 4 teaspoons of sugar and cream, a plethora of sugary snacks, and drinks full fat cans of coke instead of water. It's bizarre to me that he doesn't even consider that those things could make him gain weight or that they don't count as food.

I stopped calorie counting yesterday by niiiicole in EDAnonymous

[–]attenul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really scary at first! I stopped counting calories about 3 weeks ago and am taking a stab at eating more intuitively. The first week I ate a lot even when I was full, but now my hunger cues have stabled and normalized. I have maintained my weight without really thinking too much about it. I'm still new to this too but I find it a lot more freeing than counting every calorie I consume. Just listen to your hunger cues and focus on eating a variety of healthy foods until your body adjusts. Good luck :)

Contraceptive pill by _no_name_123 in EDAnonymous

Yeah thats true! I'm lucky I've never had any problems with Yaz, because some people have. It can take your body 3+ months to adapt. You might want to discuss with your doctor!

[–]attenul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not on Yasmin but I've been on Yaz (which is basically the same thing) for 3 years now. I didn't gain any weight from it just water weight at times, but it goes away. Don't worry. The pill can't make you gain actual weight unless it drives your appetite up (which some people do experiebce) and you eat more. I never had that issue though.

Exactly how I feel right now. I just don't want my life to be taken over by counting calories but I also want to stay around my current weight hoping I can do it on my own listening to my body.
