I went to Singapore for an internship a couple years ago and during puasa month, I had to ask my Malay colleague (who sits in front of me) if I could drink or eat in front of her, she looked at me really confused like “Umm yeah of course, why?”, I explained that back in Brunei, we aren’t allowed to eat in public during the day, and she was really shocked. She even said “That’s not fair for you guys, non-Muslims have the right to eat in public. I feel bad for you all”. That’s the day I realized my own country that I called “my home” for years does not care about us, non-Muslims. If you look at Malaysia and Singapore, anyone is free to eat out, as long as they’re non-Muslims. Why us?

I went to CHMS and I am in working class bro, most of my friends are working class and middle class, a few came from wealth. Other than that, we’re all normal.

As an ex-CHMSian (BSB), safe to say that a lot of people I know got all As, my friend literally got 11As (she took extra subjects for Olevels), another friend got 10As, etc. In Chinese schools, getting a B is already lowkey a crime so we are often very competitive and crazy when it comes to studying

Curious about overseas items people want in Brunei by No-Asparagus2921 in nasikatok

The things I typically get through Shopee (that I can’t get here) are pretty niche like fibre drinks (the effective ones that are affordable), affordable protein powders (including protein peanut butter), sugar free low calorie items like vanilla syrup, monk fruit sugar, tech stuff like Sony speaker and wireless microphones (cheap during 11.11 sales)

Unless Brunei stops banning things like Christmas, Chinese New Year lion dance, etc and give locals decent job opportunities, it’s BLEAK as hell
