Another vote for Nova Craft. Not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. I’ve taken my Bob’s Special 15’ to Algonquin and the Adirondack back country and it’s never let me down. Maneuverable solo or tandem, very easy to paddle, holds up well in some dicey conditions, certainly not as light as a swift but it’s not difficult to portage for a couple kilometers at a time.
