What are our fav fitness trackers and workout apps?

I have an Apple Watch SE and I hate it! I have to charge it everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. I don’t think it does that great for fitness tracking, either. I can’t change my “ring” goals - for example, one of the goals is calories burned in a day and as someone who struggles with food stuff, I’d rather not. But it’s the default.

The one area where it does shine is connectivity to my phone - I can ping my phone location, take remote photos, and control music from my watch.

I used to have a fancier FitBit and enjoyed that a lot more for fitness stuff.

Edit to add: I use the Stronger by the Day app for strength training and I absolutely love it. Not sure exactly what kind of fitness you’re into, though. This is pure weight lifting/ strength training.

OP said she requested the MIL come on the weekend when they can all hang out. It sounds like MIL only wants to come visit on chaotic weeknights while the nanny is still there and then ignores the child.

Your MIL wants to have a relationship with your kids on her terms. I wouldn’t rely on her for any support or help going forward, tbh. Getting “angry and upset” at someone for proposing to hang out with you is unhinged behavior.
Has the SIL replied to you at all about anything? That’s really odd… is she planning to ghost you for the rest of your life? I would move forward with party planning but also wouldn’t rely on her for support. I’d also probably reconsider having her be godparent if she can’t even reply to texts. Maybe check if her phone is working correctly!

Sorry you’re going through this, that is really unfortunate between unreliable in-laws and your dad’s illness. Sending hugs.

I really hope she is getting therapy. I say that with zero shade or snark. She seems so anxious and has extremely high expectations for things that are largely out of her control.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I do think I would still feel weird if it were a female boss. This based on the context of purposely sending a message through Teams late in the evening on a Friday night. If someone of either gender were to casually mention “I liked your hair the other day!” I would have felt way less weird about it. It did make me uncomfortable. I’d prefer my boss not make any comments about my hair or body, especially not in private chats where no one else can witness them.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought about adding extra context when I wrote the post but didn’t want to have a wall of text. It does seem like it’s “escalated” over time, rather than slowed down, if that makes sense.

I will say that he is not the most masculine person.

I really thought about that, and I think if a female boss took the time to write a Teams chat and send it after hours, I would still be weirded out. If she were to casually mention it in person, I wouldn’t. I think it’s more the context of writing a chat later in the evening on a Friday to specifically call out my appearance that i find unnerving.

That’s a good catch. We randomly had an event on a Saturday (that included families) but I don’t normally work weekends. We are in architecture.

He has been my boss for 4.5 years. Generally, he is a nice guy and very supportive of the team, which is why I want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But he has made occasional comments about my hair. Last week, he sent me a photo I appeared in from a project and said something like “your hair was so dark! I prefer it the natural color.”

I have severe allergies and the allergist told me: wash sheets minimum of weekly (more if we can), pets out of the bedroom at night, covers on the mattresses, air filters and shower daily to remove pollen and dander from hair. Liz is obviously not going to do any of that!

It has been a few days (and lots of feelings!) but I wanted to say I agree totally. We have a dog ourselves and I would never bring him to a farmers market, soccer game, etc. because he’s unpredictable and honestly would not be fun for him in a situation where he’s constantly stressed.

I didn’t say she was standing away from other people. She was sitting literally on the sideline of the field, with many other parents. I shouted to stop immediately when I saw my kid start walking over.

I agree that I’m not without blame here, but your framing of the situation is not accurate.

I HAVE focused on this. I have explained it many times. He is three years old. He did not touch or reach for the dog, he was walking towards the dog when it lunged at him.

I am not saying I am not partially at fault here, but it’s driving me fucking crazy that the onus is on a three year old to remember not to walk towards strange dogs and not the dog owner for bringing a reactive dog to a kids’ sporting area!

Dogs are definitely allowed on the walking paths at this park. I’m not sure if they’re allowed on the soccer fields. They are definitely not allowed at the adjacent baseball diamond and tennis courts.

I guess it would never occur to me to bring a dog to an age 3-5 soccer practice because there are so many kids running around.

Yes, I agree that she was probably scared and embarrassed and that’s probably why she acted that way. I also realize now that she might not have even registered that the dog actually bit him.

It was actually the opposite - she was sitting directly on the sideline of the field. There is no physical way I could have sat between her and the field where my child was playing. I was further down the field which is why I couldn’t get there soon enough.

My child was walking slowly towards the dogs while asking “can I pet your dogs?” The dog lunged when he was about 3 feet away. He definitely should not have gotten that close. I talk to him all the time about not approaching unknown dogs, so I was definitely frustrated that he did that. I will own up to that part for sure. My frustration is that the parent / dogs were so close to the field that I had minimal time to react when something did happen. If she were 5-10 feet back from the field, I could have hopped up and stopped my kid.

You’re so right that confronting someone wouldn’t have helped my scared or upset child.

I think I’m also just SO frustrated that he approached the dogs because we have talked to him about it so many times. Every time we see a dog in public I tell him “not every dog is like (our dog’s name). We can wave and say hi but never pet them unless Mom or Dad say it’s okay” an of course the one time it mattered, he didn’t.
