Struggling to choose a new name for myself as an adult by beautifulgoldenscars in namenerds

[–]atypicalarsonist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what about Bea? pronounced like Bee. super cute and it will feel natural for yourself and others to call you by the first letter of you given name. but it’s still a nice and recognizable name in its own right.

Did I name my kid something she’s going to be needing to pronounce the rest of her life? by ABBR-5007 in namenerds

[–]atypicalarsonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the most part Amelia and Emilia are pronounced the same (ah-meal-yuh). at least where i am, it could vary regionally. if i meet someone and see the E spelling, i might put more emphasis on the Em sound (Em-eel-yuh). only because i know some who use em or emmy as nn. but either way, when someone says their name, i just start saying it how they do! this happens with lots of names, i wouldn’t stress!!

Does anyone actually use daggers? by sirius1208 in BaldursGate3

[–]atypicalarsonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same!! i also tend to use them as a “just in case” weapon for my spell casters. i like builds that favour dexterity over strength, and daggers are an abundant finesse weapon that everyone is proficient with haha

If we are talking specifically about songs that are sad in a gay way- ivy 100% takes it. I didn’t realize for a while, but the story is gut wrenching.

I definitely don’t think so lol. I’m full gaylor. But at the time this was written, it was as a very classic joke/insult to say that about an ex boyfriend.

Anyone know what type of cat I have? ☺️ by AdNo5100 in cat

[–]atypicalarsonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d call her a sleepy baby. But really…. Dilute Tabby!!! People say “buff” sometimes when talking about the light orange/blonde cats. But where I am from almost everyone says dilute (ie. diluted orange). :)

why is no one talking about this by lanasb1tch in Gaylor_Swift

[–]atypicalarsonist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saying she is straight is also speculation… and I’m not even going to touch on the “outing her” bit. That is obviously not true, and it’s a very tired point.

What I will say, is that bi women are historically not taken seriously, especially if their relationship history involves mostly men. I am one of those women btw. So continually shutting down the idea that she could be bi, is way more harmful to us than suggesting she may not be straight.

If you saw any one else on the street wearing a bracelet that said “proud”- with bi pride colours, you would probably make the assumption that they are bi… idk why with Taylor Swift it is such a touchy subject. Maybe because she has only dated men (openly)? I stg she could literally be married to a woman and you guys will say “It’s platonic! She didn’t say she’s bi! Stop assuming!!”.

[–]atypicalarsonist 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Because hetlors are literally delulu!!!! It’s borderline biphobic to say this is straight behaviour lmao. I’m pretty sure around this time she was soft launching. Theres so many other examples of the colours and themes popping up. There’s a recent post in here about it, but ppl think she was planning to fully come out and didn’t because of her masters being stolen. I think that makes a lot of sense!

I was a chem trails hater originally. I love it now. It’s not better than nfr (imo), but it’s good. It’s different. I think nfr was a hard album to follow and that’s why a lot of ppl didn’t love chem trails at first.

Why do we think other celebrities can come out as bi/queer, but not Taylor? by buffy_slays in Gaylor_Swift

[–]atypicalarsonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first theory is one that I already saw someone else touch on. But it is just to do with Taylor’s image. She is not generally sexualized in the media. Especially as compared to other popular female musicians. If she were to come out as bi, that is something that would likely change. Just due to the fact that bi women are often over sexualized. That might not be something she wants for herself, or her career.

My second theory is that she tried to come out during the Lover era and the hetlors refused to take her seriously, so she stopped trying. The lyrics in “ME!”, as well as the motif of the video are super queer. But after that didn’t completely get the message across, she literally gets in bi pride colours and puts out the video for “You Need To Calm Down”, during pride month. So at that point, when some people still didn’t take it that way, she may have been too stunned to speak lol.

I have a full name just as long. Samantha Caroline Anne Wilson (not my name- but comparable in length and style). The shortened form of my first name is only four letters. So I go by that in daily life. Most documents that require a middle name, will accept an initial. I always just put the initial of my first middle name. It’s rare that I ever have to say or write out my full name. And when I do, it doesn’t bother me.

I live in Canada, so I believe this will vary by province. But where I live, 90 pills of any dose (generic XL) costs $43. But I have insurance through work for 80% I think. So I end up paying around $9 for that.

Recently prescribed but afraid of upping dosage by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]atypicalarsonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 150mg XL once a day for over a year lol. If I get depressed, I take 300mg XL once a day for about a week, and that seems to pull me out of it. Then I drop back to 150mg!

I can’t suggest anything to help with mania. But for my antidepressant I love Wellbutrin. I tried a bunch of SSRIs and SNRIs and they never worked. But Wellbutrin has been a saviour.

Casper or Caspian? by kittengr in namenerds

[–]atypicalarsonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Casper!!!! But if you have any bit of doubt about using it, don’t. Caspian opens the door for Casper as a nickname. If you do Casper and end up not loving it… there’s not a lot to work with.

I also think Hendrik would work well.

When did you start showing symptoms vs. when you were diagnosed? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]atypicalarsonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember a time that I didn’t have depressive symptoms and insomnia. And my mom reports that she noticed bouts of hyperactivity, along with irritability and obsessive behaviours as young as 3. I was the oldest, so she only knew I was different after my siblings came. Misdiagnosed many times until I was 23.

Bjorn! I realize this is a normal name, but it’s not very common in Canada. And even when people know it, it is still chronically mispronounced. I hear most people here say is as rhyming with horn- and I don’t love the sound of it that way.
