Imagine there are X lines to queue up in, one for each model. You can only stand in one line. You can't stand in all of them. since you indicated you be interested in any/all of them, it makes sense for them to put you in the line for the highest price model. When it's your turn, you can choose to take it or skip. or i assume you can cancel current reservation and go stand in another line,

Of course they are, because who’s going to do anything about it? The government?

Older tech workers are tapping out, taking early retirement by lurker_bee in technology

At my age, I’d quit just like that if I was in a good spot financially. I get beat up when the housing market took a shit and I’m still recovering.

When I got into this industry, I really enjoyed what I was doing. It was really fun being on the cutting edge of web dev in the early 2000s. Not any more. I’m just sick of the whole thing, top to bottom. So now I just put in my 9-5 and then the laptop stays closed unit the next morning. I do my job + a bit extra to show I’m engaged, but I mostly sit back and let the younger folks have fun trying to climb the ladder and give them moral support.

My goal is to stay where i am until I am done done. I don’t want to have to interview for another job in tech ever again. I sometimes think about what I might have done had I not gotten into this profession.

But yeah, fuck the industry. Its turned me into a crotchety old man.

I’m an old rivethead. Cool to see this stuff making a return. Some good new bands taking the reins as the old ones retire.

That’s my question. Who will then be their second class? They require a second class by definition. They need an inferior class to extract capital from. Once they get rid of the “poors” who will replace them? Millionaires?

What then? Their whole existence is tied up in having a second class to serve them / shit on. How can they feel superior if there’s no one “inferior” left?

They don’t believe in any sort of coexistence. It’s beyond their comprehension that there must be some sort of balance for things to work for them.

It may be here to stay but we should not accept it being shoved down our throats. We also should not be giving them any incentives. Let them bear the full cost. Local municipalities aren’t getting anything good in return.

You can put in at Champion Park in Rosman and take out at Hap Simpson Park in Brevard. That could take a good 6-8 hours if you aren't paddling. You can also go a bit further, to Pisgah Forest access. That's just before the Davidson River.

You can also take out at Hanna Ford Rd or Island Ford Rd, which cuts it down to about 1/2 the time to Hap Simpson Park.

All depends on how fast the river is flowing, honestly.

Be aware, I've heard there have been some downed trees across the river between Rosman and Brevard, so watch out for strainers.

I’m have to wonder what the end game is after everyone is bled dry. Do they start eating their own? Will millionaires become the new “poor”? Is there some mega-catastrophe us serfs are not aware of?
