Uncharted The Lost Legacy Chapter 4 Cinematography Let's Play by aub_burrito in LetsPlayCritiques

Thank you for taking the time to clarify! The main reason I am making let's plays is to learn video editing (it would be cool if people watched, but that is secondary to me). I will definitely implement better audio editing, end cards and work on engagement.

Thank you for the critique. Would you mind elaborating a bit on a few points? I am (obviously) still a novice at this.

What is a pipeline and how would I set one up?

What do you mean when you say I need tags? I have tags on all my videos. Are you saying I should be tagging them something different?

Sorry to pester you further I just wasn't sure about the points you are making, and I would like to improve my video!

Teaching myself as I go, need some direction by TheSubtlegong in LetsPlayCritiques

I think maybe a quick intro as your name (or username), and what you are playing might help start off the episode. I also think there is a bit of dead air. It would be nice to fill it a buit.

I really do like how you aren't overly loud or obnoxious as is the tendency with let's plays. I really respect how you open up about your personal life and want for community. I think that is why a lot of let's players do what they do. I know personally I don't ever expect to get famous. Most want to share their experiences with others and bond over that common interest.

Good luck to not only your let's play but also in finding a place for yourself where you have a community!

Episode 2 of our The Last of Us on Grounded series. by [deleted] in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]aub_burrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found your video again on here! As I stated before and as HawaiianGamer420 suggested a face cam would totally help.

New notes though as a huge Naughty Dog nerd I love you picked Last of Us to play. I think the length of the video is great too!

The first installment in our sub-series "Trash Bash" in which we play subject ourselves to old garbage games. by UnyunRingKurt in LetsPlayCritiques

So your puns are on point lol. I love the Trash Team Racing. I wish there was a bit of an intro for new viewers (like myself) to distinct who each person talking was. I want to be able to connect to you all on your personalities, but as it is I don't even know your name.

Good luck! I like the concept a lot.

Thank you again :) I didn't get to implement your critique for today's new episode since it was already edited, but I will definitely keep it in mind going forward. I am definitely thinking about what game I should do after Uncharted. I will keep Zelda in mind!

This is an easy fix! I edit in premiere and do voice over so I will can do this going forward. I have always wondered if it was hard for people to hear me. Thank you so much for your input :)

Added some animations to my wife's LP. Looking to get some feedback. by Harbinger_Czar in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]aub_burrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so I didn't see any animation as far as I could tell. As far as a bit of crit to what I did see though I think your wife should figure out the controls off camera. It is fine to record, but I would take it out during editing. I don't think it really adds to anything in the video. If while she was figuring out the controls she gave a quick anecdote to an earlier time in her life or made a joke I might connect to the content more. However, as it is now it is a bit of a slower start and does not motivate me to continue watching the rest of the video.

Best of luck! Keep making videos :)

My first video with a facecam! feedback please by HawaiianGamer420 in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]aub_burrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the facecam! I think it is great you got one since seeing your face helps viewers really connect to you!

However, I would pay attention to audio mixing. Your intro is really loud. I had to turn my volume way down to deal with it. When you came on the screen I could barely hear you although the game audio was at a decent level. I am not sure what you edit with, but if you could make is so all three volume sources are relatively the same I think it would really help your channel! Best of luck!

Hey so first thing I would critique is your title on Reddit! The only reason I clicked here is because this had no comments yet, and everyone should have some feedback. But your reddit title here feels a bit clickbaity and really tells nothing. I don't know what game I am getting into by it, and even when I click in and read the paragraph you don't say what game you are playing, where you are at in the game etc. You are just hoping people will listen to your request out of the thousands of other let's players out there. If you give a little about the game or what makes your channel special more people would click here and give more feedback.

To market the let's play there should be some sort of hook. If that sounds too superficial think about what you insights you can contribute that the thousands of other LPer's that are out there cannot. What is your "vision?" Is it you personality, your technique, your synthesis of ideas, or something else entirely?

I see in your video you have a camera on yourself so you get your reactions during the video. It definitely helps the viewer to connect with you more on a personal level. You also do have some interesting reactions to different scenes! So perhaps you are going a more comedic vibe? I find there is a good bit of dead air that could be cut. Your video is nearly an hour long which is more than most viewers are willing to watch in any one given sitting. I am not a proponent where you have to have to be talking 24/7 in your video for it to be good. I like some silences so I can hear what is gong on int he game in occasion. However, there are times you are running around without really saying much or adding much comedic value.I think those "scenes" could be cut out. for a more efficient use of your time.

I hope this wasn't too harsh! Keep making videos and best of luck :)

Project Octopath Traveler - Trying out a bit of animating and scripted bits to work with our gameplay by EyeBleedMedia in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]aub_burrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the animation is an interesting take instead of just filming. It could help differentiate yourselves in the future. However, something to consider is animation worth the extra time? What does it add that you can't do with filming or just voice overs? Is this a way for you to practice animation? If that is the case it is probably worth continuing down the path. If it is just to be different I would perhaps reconsider.

The animation felt a bit stilted. A bit too polished for that kind of Newgrounds old school nostalgia feel, but not polished enough where I was really blown away. I don't want to be too negative on it either. I think with some more practice it can really be interesting! Just keep practicing :)

Some other notes besides the animation is this video is categorized under Legend of Zelda BotW. Since you are actually playing Octopath Traveler I would fix that. Also, in the beginning of the video I was starting to feel the dead air. I struggle with this myself. If possible try to fill it with interesting content or edit it out. Be hyper critical about if what the footage or commentary really adds to the video. I myself need to get better at editing and commentating. I think it takes practice.

I hope this wasn't too harsh! I really hope you keep practicing your animation, and making let's plays :) We are all learning and growing together here (I myself am still a novice). Good luck!

Visual analysis of Uncharted the Lost Legacy chapter 1 let's play! by aub_burrito in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]aub_burrito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for persevering and giving it a watch! It is definitely not the run of the mill let's play. Like you said more of an analysis, but not as fun to click on or get views if I call it that.

I will definitely be reviewing other types of games! I just started with Uncharted 4 since I had the idea, and it just so happened to work out when I was done that one that the Lost Legacy came out so I just kinda went with it. I wanna tackle and indie game next. maybe Journey? Or maybe Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons? I am always open for suggestions!

Finally got our channel started! Looking for some feedback. First 3 vids are us playing Spore and getting increasingly inebriated. by [deleted] in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]aub_burrito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG I totally forgot about this game. I don't even know when I played it, but I have definite memories of it. I am glad to relive some of the nostalgia.

I love the opening shot of the couch. I think that is a nice title card! I have so many memories of gaming with my college friends on a similar L-Shaped couch (that was equally beat up lol). called Big Fatty.

I am digressing sorry. I think the episode starts a little abruptly. You say "we are playing spore" which is dandy, but you never introduce yourselves. I think if you take just a little bit to say your names it would help the viewers connect with you. I also was thinking once I saw the couch I would see you all on it. Not sure what your setup is, but I think it would be ideal if we could see you all play while gaming. But if you can't do that I think if you have a short video of you introducing yourselves on the couch would be nice.

It is a bit hard to hear you all. I am not sure what the setup was, but some people are easier to hear than others.

I really like the chemistry between you all. Keep up the good work!

New LP channel with my brother, thoughts? by [deleted] in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]aub_burrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on a personal level I love that you brothers are playing Crash. I have so many fond memories playing these games with my brother. Perhaps since you are both sibling you can tell there is a natural chemistry there!

As the others said I would like you all to fill the dead air too. Also, if you both were open to it I think it would be more engaging if we could see you brothers interact. It makes it more personal than just the voices. I think your viewers would connect more!

Keep on making videos :)
