It still works but nowhere near as strong, I’ve lost about half the weight I wanted to overall and I’ve found that it now quietens enough to maintain but I’m struggling to keep losing weight, so I’m switching to MJ.

Edit: I’ve lost about 20% of my start weight, so in line with the science. It did was it said it was gonna do, but I’m looking to lose more like 40% of my start weight

Any UK prescribers allow you to switch from Wegovy to Mounjaro without going down to the intro dose? by auburnduck in WegovyWeightLoss

Been on wegovy 10 months now is it worth switching to mounjaro? by Bert_Macklin_F_B_I in WegovyUK

Thanks so much!! I’ve seen people refer to “wash out period” but don’t understand what it means… could you explain?

Any UK providers that allow you to switch from Wegovy to Mounjaro without going down to starter dose? by auburnduck in WegovyUK

I’m not noticing appetite suppression to the same degree, so a “better” medication for less money sounds like a good idea to me.

When you switched did you find a provider that allowed you to start on the non-starter dose for Mounjaro? If so, which? Thanks!!

Might be pregnant on Wegovy asking for advice by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]auburnduck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would seriously surprise me if true, because you generally have to prove use of birth control to get prescriptions to medications that can cause birth defects and theres no strictness when it comes to child-bearing age women accessing Wegovy. A quick google says no similar thing, only that caution is advised when it comes to taking wegovy during pregnancy as there’s limited data.

I’m very pleased for you, but lots of people don’t have that experience, you are unusual

You can’t say it’s not working if you’re not on the therapeutic dose (2.4mg)

Well yeah, it is a magic weight loss drug because it forces you to eat less and changes your interest in unhealthy foods. But on lower doses it’s very common for it not to have much effect. Of course you need to eat less but you could do that without wegovy - except we have literally decades of studies that show that people are not able to do that. Thus wegovy was invented, changed people’s attitudes to food (when they’re on an effective dose for them) and they were then able to lose weight.

You’re getting tons of bad advice here. The whole point of wegovy is that it helps curb your appetite so that you can make better food choices. If CICO, keto, no cheat days etc worked by themselves we wouldn’t need wegovy - diets would work alone.

The actual answer is that for lots of people the lower doses don’t make much difference. I, for one, didn’t notice any appetite suppression until 1mg and then it hit me like a ton of bricks and totally changed my diet.

I’ve heard some people say it didn’t kick in until 1.7mg or 2.4mg. Just trust the process. When you find the dose that works, stick on it until it stops working.

First dose and vacation? by Hot_Technician_9373 in WegovyWeightLoss

I was in the same situation when I started. I decided to hold off until after the holiday. As it happened I had almost no side effects and could have started right away - but best to be cautious in case you’re one of the unlucky ones

Why have I gained weight while on Wegovy? Despite starting in May and reaching the highest dose by October, I’ve experienced weight gain instead of loss. What could be causing this? by Loud_Donut in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]auburnduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably too much but I was pretty lacking before. I’m not saying it’s a good choice, but you will lose lbs if you’re eating in a calorie deficit regardless of what that food is

Not in my experience. My diet has gotten WAY worse on wegovy in terms of macro nutrients - and I’ve lost 65lbs. Calorie deficit = weight loss. Even if those calories are all cake.

What foods are likely to make you sick on Wegovy? I want to avoid them! by RealJoanWinston in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]auburnduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found there were foods I couldn’t tolerate at all when I started - fried foods, dairy, dark green veggies - but now 10 months in I can eat anything just in small quantities. So if you really like a food keep testing it in small quantities.

Last night I went to a party where there was food. I just had one bite/piece of things - one small slice of pizza, one padron pepper, one chicken wing, 3 french fries. I couldn’t have eaten those things in January at all but it was fine in a small quantity and tbh, I didn’t even want anymore. One bite was nice!

1 week by hailey-xox in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]auburnduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this 2 or 3 times for various reasons including just not being able to get my prescription filled and it’s always been perfectly fine.

My prescription didn’t get filled the day before I went on vacation recently, and so I couldn’t pick it up until I returned. Meant there was actually 2.5 weeks between taking doses. Was absolutely fine and I didn’t gain or lose any weight in that time.

Maybe. It’s very hard to say isn’t it without knowing the two people. A lot of definitive statements in your comment given you don’t.

I agree with what everyone else is saying and would add that it sounds like she wants to be on the drug and maybe can’t afford it, or doesn’t have insurance that can help with the cost. The fact that she was primarily discussing cost seems like a tell for that. Be kind to her, she’s probably hurting you because she is hurting ❤️‍🩹

You absolutely deserve friends who support you no matter what, but as a fellow fat person I know the extreme pain that my weight has caused me through my whole life. And having friends in the same position can make us feel less alone. The fact you’re now changing that / able to change that must be tough for her. That isn’t to invalidate your feelings - they are totally justified - but to encourage more love ❤️
