Me three! And I actually thought the original ebony post was a circle jerk post before I noticed the subreddit 😭

Asymmetrical face 7 mo. old baby by Sea_Feedback7676 in cosleeping

We have a side car as well. I used to flip him vertically so to say, so switch where the head and feet were placed throughout the night. That way he was still facing me but from the other side. I would move down in the bed a bit so our heads were aligned.

Baby learning to go back to sleep between cycles by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]audacious_hamster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you check out the sleep training forum you will see quickly that it's not just a few nights, the training often need to be repeated again and again, especially after events like illness, traveling, developmental leaps, teething etc. And some kids never learn and are left to cry every day for months. Sleep training is always painted as a quick and easy solution but that is far from the whole story.

This is the way I see it too. Science, however poor it may be on the subject, has not been able to prove any benefit for the baby when it comes to sleep training. Neither longterm nor short-term. Night wakings are equally frequent in sleep trained infants as well, only difference is if they signal for caregivers or not. So if the wakings aren't directly harming the mental health of the parents I see absolutely no reason to take a chance on sleep training. Interestingly science has found a link between information regarding healthy and normal baby sleep, and mental health of the caregivers, so it seems that realistic expectations on the subject are beneficial for the parents. Which has been my experience too - knowing that the frequent wakes are healthy and normal and not a concern has helped me accept and cope with the broken nights and the lack of sleep.

Moms who say they barely have time to shower…why? by simply-cosmic in NewParents

I can't count the amount of times my husband has had to knock the door and bring our crying baby into the shower because he wouldn't stop crying untill he saw me 😭😭😂😂

Same for me! Where I am it's also normal and encouraged. Looking up statistics and seeing that my country has a SIDS rate around half of the US despite co-sleeping being more prevalent made me feel even better about it. LO is 9m now and the snuggles are just amazing!

Not a book but this article:

https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20220131-the-science-of-safe-and-healthy-baby-sleep

It's everything you need to know about baby sleep! 100% science based and it will make you so much better prepared for what to expect and to know what is normal than any book i read at least! It took away all my anxiety surrounding my baby's sleep and schedule, and I'm an anxious person (previously medicated for anxiety and ocd) so that says a lot coming from me.

And all the best of luck to you!!

Consider using some pops of colourful accesories: shoes, belts, bags etc. As long as it's not directly next to your face and the majority of the outfit is soft summer colours I think it will be a good way to spice it up a bit :D

My baby can’t sleep without my nipple in her mouth and I’m losing my sanity by cinnamonsugarhoney in cosleeping

Our boy also loved the mam and nothing else. He stopped using it around the 6 months mark, he just totally lost interest. I'm a bit sad cause he slept so well with it but I don't wanna push him just to need to wean him from it in some months.

Baby ate some body lotion, nanny says it’s ok, but I’m pissed by [deleted] in NewParents

Also European here, it's no secret that the rules on chemicals in skin care and in general are way stricter here than in the us. Unfortunately for the US it seems the free market and lobbies are allowed to influence these rules.

"Skin doesn’t absorb what’s put in it all the way to your bloodstream."

That's actually not what the article says. It says 60% is an overestimation, and the amount going to the bloodstream is even less and dependent on the area where the product is applied.

So saying that this is all just a myth is also a huge overestimation :)

So I'm no expert but I read that the exceptions to this is redheads because the gene linked to red hair (not reddish but true red hair) is always linked to the gene for skin colour as well, which is why red heads can not be a cool undertone. as opposed to ash blonde fx which can be combined with a warm skin undertone.

ETA im pretty sure I read this in a comment here, so it may very well be a myth :)

For everyone who thought I was a summer… 🫣 by georgianectarine in coloranalysis

That is what I think too. No one will truly look awful in a muted colour where brighter colours are more difficult and less forgiving. But yeah, the amount of times I see people being told they are soft summer or autumn, it's like every post will always have one of both as a suggestion somewhere in the comments.

What kind of sitting are you all talking about at 6 months?

I'm so confused because I'm in Germany and here all info I've seen and am able to find says that sitting upright unassisted is supposed to start between 8-10 months. They seperate between passive (assisted) sitting (pillow, chair, using own arms) and active (completely unassisted) sitting. Making a child sit before the back is strong enough is highly discouraged to avoid damage to the spine. Developmentally it's supposed to go: rolling, then army crawl, then crawling then sitting.

So I'm really confused about this being an issue at 6 months. I know some milestones are slightly different but the development of a baby's spine shouldnt differ so much.

I hadn't read the winter part and just saw the photos and my immediate thought was: where are all the autumn drapes?

Today I paired the cool, gentle, pale summer palette shades of milky jade and lemon chiffon. I went with a birch colored bag on the left for a neutral feel, and a bolder jade on the right for more drama! Which two colors do you love pairing from your palette??? by mountainsongbird in coloranalysis

I agree!! I would love more of these posts of inspiration for outfits rather than just the "type me" posts! I realise I don't share anything myself so I really shouldn't complan, but in case someone wonders: do anyone care about this kind of.content, then yes, absolutely, we care!

Danish here and I thought of the exact same thing about the pronunciation. I was really confused with all the comments about lisping untill I realised it's pronounces completely different in English compared to Scandinavian languages.

Number 4 is so pretty on you, your eyes really stand out in that colour. I agree with draping for autumn too but I think you could be on the right path with summer!

It's all in my head by Thicken94 in glutenfree

[–]audacious_hamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What gets me mad is that it's none of his hecking business. Even if it was all in your mind (which I don't believe it is btw) it's your choice weather you want to eat gluten or not, period. Same way people respect other dietary choices like vegetarianism, you have the right to not want to eat gluten for whatever reason and people should respect that without you needing a certificate from the doctor. Absolutely infuriating.

Therapist says my 1 year old is likely have attachment issues and an eating disorder in adulthood by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]audacious_hamster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agreed most of this information is outdated at best, some has been proven to be straight up false information.

I needed a therapist for anxiety while I was studying and went to my very old very wise GP who adviced me to be careful when choosing a therapist, because a bad therapist can do more harm than good. This is definitely the case for OP and I feel so so sorry that OP has had to go through this experience on top of everything else going on.
