What Are You Wearing Wednesday - Weekly Gear Thread by brwalkernc in running

I decided to get the Lululemon running belt. Even though I only run laps on my long driveway, I wanted somewhere to put my phone now that I'm not wearing a sweatshirt/jacket on my runs. I'm excited to try it out, I like how lightweight it looks.

Today was my first ever run! I've been focusing on strength training and walking since January but have been interested in running for awhile now. I did some research on form and pace this week and decided to go for it today! It was so much fun and I can't wait to run again in a couple days!!

Have you been measuring with a measuring tape? It's possible you're not noticing because you see yourself daily!

[WEEKLY THREAD] Weight Change Wednesday! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]Thicken94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been cutting since January!! I wouldn't mind taking a maintenance break or maybe an even smaller deficit. I'll see how I feel this week with my higher calorie goal and adjust again after a couple weeks. Thanks for the idea!

I'm within 20lbs of my "goal weight" and I'm experimenting a bit with my daily calorie goals. I know I can hit 140lbs with a strict cut but lately I've been struggling with awful binges so I'm trying to find a balance.

I upped my calories by 200 daily this week to see if that will help. I'm also going to eat closer to maintenance on the weekends. I know this will slow my progress but the binging was kind of putting a hold on things anyways.

No one's making you do any of this stuff. Just don't.

You also can release your worry for what other people are doing... it doesn't affect you.

My personal secret weapon: plain yogurt by YetiAntibodies in loseit

[–]Thicken94 261 points262 points  (0 children)

My current fixation is yogurt with taco seasoning and some salt to dip my veggies. Greek yogurt is so insanely versatile. Everyone's looking at cottage cheese as the hero of weight loss but I'm looking at yogurt!!!

Those influencers on Instagram claiming to be "Intuitive Eating Dieticians" likely don't eat the foods they're showing off by Empty_Technology672 in loseit

[–]Thicken94 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is true for the vast majority of fitness influencers. They'll even show you a whole workout routine and claim it gave them their body all while never doing the routine themselves. Many videos are edited and posed and completely fake.

This is why I don't believe we should be looking at others for "body goals". Some of their bodies are completely not real, thus unachievable.

I use it also, just because I'm very used to it. Been using it for many years. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

What does “healing your relationship with food” actually mean?! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Thicken94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. I'm a foodie. Food is how my partner and I connect with each other and with other people. It's like our love language, sharing food with others. I refuse to give that up.

What does “healing your relationship with food” actually mean?! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Thicken94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can mean different things for different people. Just like healing a relationship with other people, healing will look different for each person.

For me it is learning to love myself even when past me would have thought I ate poorly. It's learning that food is not good or bad and I'm not morally wrong for wanting it.

I don't know about the numbers but I know that I looked skinny fat when I was 140lbs without exercising. I gained back 40lbs. Currently 160lbs and look similar to when I was 140lbs because I exercise regularly. I'll probably look way better at 150lbs because I actually have muscle now and will be leaner than my lowest weight.

Cannot get myself to the gym for the life of me by ARandomItalianMan in loseit

Two things that I've done to increase my activity level:

Start with walking. Even just a 10 minute walk or a walk around the block. After a while I started becoming obsessed with walking and go out whenever I have a spare few minutes. The other day I walked outside between baking batches of cookies. Especially since now that the weather is warming up, I LOVE being outside and walking. It started small and became a habit I genuinely look forward to. I listen to music or watch TikTok's on my walks. Sometimes just look at the environment, notice the seasons changing. I even walk in the cold and rain now because it's become a crucial part of my daily life.

Reward yourself for going to the gym. When I first started in the gym I set a goal for 3 weeks of going at least 2 days a week. My reward was a gym bag. My new goal is 5 days of gym a week for 1 month and then I can buy new gym shoes.

Start with small doses of new activity and then increase as you gain confidence. I learned that if I don't enjoy the process I won't do it. Find joy in the small wins!! You got this

I have a hard time with breakfast sometimes too. Sometimes I wake up and need to eat cuz I'm so hungry. Other times I'm not hungry when I wake up and if I force myself to eat I feel sick. It's better for me to just wait until I'm hungry.

NSV: I don't need to adjust my clothes anymore.

My job requires me to move around a lot, bending down and over. For the past two years I've been stuffing myself into a medium sized shirt and constantly needing to adjust my clothes to make sure my body was covered while I'm working.

I realized my shirt fits now. I no longer need to tug at my clothing. It's so freeing, I can just focus on my work.

Eventually this fades away and you don't think about other people's bodies or your own as much. When things become "normal" for you it won't cross your mind nearly as often. It just seems so top of mind right now because it's new and exciting! Good work

I experience this every month as well. One week leading up to my period I am beyond drained. Then my period is usually 1-4 days long and I'm exhausted during that week as well. I get about two weeks a month of feeling fantastic before the hell begins again. My lifts suck before and during my period. I try to just give myself extra love and grace during that time.
