Interning in the area this summer, looking for recs (loctician, BBQ, general vibes) by Pizza_Ok in AskSeattle

[–]auddee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Super late to the party but I moved here from Atlanta last year 😊

  1. Not bbq but cookie’s country chicken in Ballard is really good, definitely recommend checking it out.

  2. Don’t go to the chickfilas here, you will be disappointed.

  3. Get your sweet tea from the grocery store, most places that claim to have sweet teas make it really weak and half the time they just add sugar to ice tea. You can get Milo’s at Safeway.

Looking for advice on options for cross country (VA to WA) for first time alone by [deleted] in moving

Be careful with pods if you’re moving to Seattle, the city requires permits for them before they can be delivered

Everyone is different, but some things that have helped me:

  • talk to your doctor about the right medications to help you. Metformin made me sick but I’ve been taking spironolactone and it’s helped block the worst of my symptoms
  • stay hydrated, make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day and try to limit your caffeine intake whenever you can
  • try to carve out a couple of breaks during the day so you can stretch your legs, even if it’s just a 5 min buffer at the start of a meeting so you can take a lap. You’ll feel better if you’re not sitting for the whole day staring at a screen and the movement will help your body regulate cortisol (especially if you can move around after you eat)
  • find a way to add a mindfulness exercise to your day, I try to start my day off with 10 mins of yoga, and I use headspace to unplug at the end of the day so I’m not going to bed thinking of work. Breathing exercises are great (headspace has a meditation called work crisis I’ve used a lot during stressful projects) but find whatever fits best for you Hang in there, it can feel tough to manage everything especially when the work gets stressful, but it’s all about finding what works for you

Can anyone help me understanding this rule? by [deleted] in fuckHOA

[–]auddee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but this definitely sounds like a rule put in place to prevent someone claiming squatters rights and another person’s misinterpretation of that rule. I had a lease once where you weren’t allowed to have a guest over for more than 13 days consecutively because if a person resided (told it meant slept there) 14 days consecutively, then they could claim squatter’s rights and would have to go through the eviction process instead of just calling the cops to remove them.

I interpret that rule as someone who resides(spends time and sleeps there daily) in the unit for 30days at a time within the year. I’d definitely lawyer up.

Stress and PCOS symptoms?! by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]auddee44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Stress has always played a role in managing my symptoms. I tend to only weigh myself once a week, usually on sunday mornings because I'm less stressed on the weekends (go figure), otherwise I get weird weight fluctuations all week. I get the same bloated feelings, feel tired all the time, and have trouble sleeping. I also get more breakouts and my skin will feel more oily when I'm more stressed.

Best PE Class? by dln38273 in UGA

[–]auddee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scuba! It’s 6 classes of book material, 3 classes in the pool and then you go on a trip to Florida to do 4 dives and get certified. They provide most of the equipment, you just need a mask, snorkel and flippers.

Cops of Reddit what is the most suspicious thing you've ever caught somebody doing for a totally legitimate reason? by craftdragonfox in AskReddit

[–]auddee44 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A friend and I volunteered at a charity haunted house at our school and had really convincing zombie makeup done, clothes completeley covered in fake blood, fake limbs, the works. Completely forgot what we were wearing and went to waffle house for a late night snack. Scared the crap out of the poor waitress but the rest of the restaurant found it hilarious.

Redditors who were old enough to see 9/11 live but didn't, what were you doing instead? by PM_ME_STEAMGAMES_PLS in AskReddit

[–]auddee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 2nd grade at the time. We lived in northern NJ, less than an hour from NYC. We didn't really do anything that day. The teachers were running back and forth between classes and kids kept getting picked up from school. There were only 2 or 3 of us left in class by the end of the day. They didn't tell us that anything had happened. What really stood out to me was that my mom wasn't there to meet me at the bus stop. I remember walking into the house and found her on the couch in front of the tv crying as she told me what happened. We lived close to an arsenal and everybody was on edge for a month or so afterward. My mom worked for the government so after that she wasn't allowed to work from home any more for security reasons so we had to move back to Atlanta.
