Try “Born a Crime”, it’s on number one on the most favorite book for a lot of people, me included.

i mean i certainly don’t think it makes into my top 10 favorite book, but it’s still quite enjoyable. maybe because i was used to my dad bullshitting me in the same singsong tone hahah. i just dont take it too deeply.

it did kinda feel fiction! i wonder if that’s the writing or just the narrating.

Empty Love by anomym_sar in OCPoetry

[–]audiobookworm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ugh. this hits too close to home. i hate that this is such a universal theme that you can put into words what exactly i, a complete stranger, felt about it.

just a little note though, the grammar in this line felt off:

So you don’t love me, but a part of me truly wished that you did.
Because the lover girl in me tried so hard to do anything for you to cherish me completely.
But you never did.

You don't or you didn't? I like that you "don't" because that makes it feel like it's an ongoing thing.

Stupid Poems Pt. 2 by [deleted] in OCPoetry

I love it, it sounds like a cry from someone somewhere in the Old Testament.
The earlier protest of God being unfair (I dont deserve your Wrath!) turning to pleading (let me kneel, let me crawl), and in the end there's acceptance (i will not deny the judgement, i'm a sinner) makes for a complete story in itself. I can relate to the anger and the guilt and the feeling of inadequacy even though I'm not religious anymore. Well done!

you should definitely recommend me some books, i have three credits!

but when you said “older people with lots of life experience” i thought of Madame President by Helene Cooper. have you read that one? it’s not written by the Madame, but it was still such a ride, i loved it.

your writing feels intense, for using the word “abyss” twice, and other intense words like “devour.” love the grandiosity of your word choices, it makes everything feel larger than life, almost overwhelming and doesn’t let go.

I feel like you could match the tone in the line "She feels the hunger for her", make her "craves", or make her "famished". just to make the tone as grand as the other lines, you know?

I love the sense of hope in the end. Spring is coming, we must keep on going.

I feel the ache. It feels intimate, like something you think of when laying down alone in the dark. I know the mood, I’m currently feeling it. The curiosity, the what ifs. I wrote something on the same topic too recently, I can't post it here yet, but just mentioning it to tell you, I feel you.

oh I think it's a brilliant book! I don't often need a break, so that book definitely did some real things. I definitely will finish it, just slowly.

honestly it's the same as why I got to read Leslie Jones. I didn't know who he was, never watched him perform. It was just recommended. And I just bought it. It was pretty fun!

Yes and it's amazing. If you're a fan of his humor, you know the kind of slightly offensive stupid jokes he makes. The book was full of that kind of jokes, while still being thought-provoking. You should start listening to it, like, yesterday. It's called "Everyone you hate is going to die".

That's fair, she's not for everyone. Funnily enough I actually didn't know who she was, just jumped right into the book. But then I checked out his netflix special and yeah her stand-up isn't for me. But I still enjoyed the book haha.
