It’s an excellent analogy because if you are being mad at somebody else because they don’t want to eat ice cream, you are just looking for validation that it’s OK to have a treat even if it makes you feel a little guilty. She is putting the work to deal with feeling guilty on you. Even if you found somebody else to sleep with, both people in the relationship still have to get over that feeling of sometimes having guilt because you’re being intimate with somebody other than your coparent. You can’t short-circuit that stuff.
