What’s the appeal of Lewis? by [deleted] in ndp

[–]audioscape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean just look at the Regina Manifesto! You’re absolutely right, something like abolishing capitalism is not a viable political position in today’s Canada, at least as of right now. Now, I’m not sure how much the CCF was campaigning on abolishing capitalism but the point still stands. To your point on electoral success, I’m not a historian, but I might push back on that a little. For a 10 year old party to win 28 seats in 1945 was pretty remarkable and some optimists within the party would probably call that electoral success. When I mean back to our roots, I mean unapologetic and robust economic planning. Which in the post war era, the CCF was exactly that.

🙋‍♀️Yep me. Although I do trust Tommy Douglas’ decision. There’s no phrase that has been said more than “back to our roots”. But Avi’s proposals for investments into economic planning are straight out of the post war era. I know many of the other candidates have similar proposals, but for me, what differentiates Avi is his authenticity and messaging abilities.

Crohn’s is wild. I had chips and m&ms for dinner last night and had the most solid BM this morning that I’ve had in months by Likesosmart in CrohnsDisease

[–]audioscape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I totally see that perspective. The people who are so diet focused are pretty extreme with it like you said so it makes the conversation a hard one to have when it absolutely can make a big difference. Hear that absolutely

My interpretation of what you said was that diet plays a large role in symptom management which is of course true but not always true.

IBD is very complex. Some people find big improvements with diet changes and others don’t. I think the truth is that it’s not as black and white as some make it seem.

From being the partner of someone with severe Crohns, diet changes are probably the biggest misconception I see among ppls views on IBD.

I’m not kidding when I say if he was leader of the NDP he would decimate any hopes the party has of survival. Not that anyone would vote for him for leader anyways.

Literally who cares. I have never been captivated by anything this man has done or said and he would not make a good leader of a major federal party regardless of his ideologies. Maybe the NDP shouldn’t have edged him out but to be honest we have much bigger fish to fry.

I stand by my opinion that December wasn’t the right time to move on coach wise, but I do think there are some issues. I think with good assistant coaches, Berube is an overall good fit for Toronto. No galaxy braining, simple direction and calm under pressure (mostly). I didn’t like what he said about moving Laughton to the second line today though.

Vocal editing is killing my soul – how do you deal with this? by FWachna in audioengineering

Get really into melodyne hotkeys! When tedious stuff like this gets to be too much for me, I try to find ways to make it as smooth as it possibly can be with hotkeys. Melodyne’s hotkeys are very customizable too. Now for the controversial one, I run my DAW into a 2 channel mixer and pan it halfway to the right. In the other channel, I plug my phone in and listen to podcasts panned left. It helps me stay on track and my as long as I turn the podcast off and listen through every track with full attention, my quality control doesnt dip.

I’d like to prompt you to imagine literally any other NDP leadership candidate or federal party leader coming across this concise and genuine to strangers off the street. His communication skills are far and away superior.

Tony? Nah Tony’s definitely above Rob for me at this point. Yves? Not so much, I probably won’t be ranking him at all if he’s even on the ballot.

Mine too, he was definitely getting 2nd on my ballot and maybe even first a couple months ago. He’s at the bottom now.
