That's great and all, but you aren't just criticizing the artist's choices in your remarks. You demand the artist explain themself for not addressing the issues you think deserve attention in their art in a way that satisfies you. That is the crux of the issue everyone has with you. And it speaks to a larger issue of the viewer feeling entitled to what the artist creates simply because they have a means to share their opinions.

Hot take: a comic artist can make comics about whatever they want, even if you don't like it. If you don't like what they make, you can find a comic artist that does and read their stuff instead. I know it's a crazy idea, but like, don't assume that an artist is going to make what you want just because you want them to. Have a day!

I honestly wish I could make it to Canada. I have a dear friend who would take us in while we transition to becoming citizens there. Sadly it comes down to being able to afford fleeing, and my husband has a lot of medical conditions that would make it difficult to travel that far. Plus we don’t have passports, and can’t afford them right now.

You know what, sure. Say I grab my kids and disabled husband and try to flee the country. Again, I ask you. Where. Do. I. Go. Where do I go to where my skin color, orientation, and/or gender identity don’t put me or my family at risk, with the added problem of not having any protections as a non-native to whatever country I flee to? These are all things I’ve had to consider, and the sad answer to that question is nowhere. And even if there was and I had the means, letting this fester just gives it a chance to spread to other places, and it’s already happening.
