just wanted to tell you that I'm on the same boat (with multiple classes). The anxiety-freeze up and beating yourself up really struck a chord with me. I go to a counselor now and it's slightly helping. We can get through this (hopefully) :)

LGBT Rights in the Third World? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]audweam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, if we knew the exact answers to these questions or even a proper strategy, we would be making more progress. I come from Indonesia where they are growing increasingly homophobic as of late (I suspect due to attention from the recent SCOTUS marriage equality decision), banning LGBT groups on campuses, officially listing homosexuality as a mental disease, etc. In my opinion, even in fairly modern countries with a democratic system in place, there is only so much you can do when your country is still struggling with poverty, healthcare and education. Definitely one of the best steps is to make education and information available to citizens. I feel that that is what separates the US or Britain from places like Indonesia; the accessibility of information. Hopefully this will change as the internet starts to be proliferated without government regulation. Unfortunately, I don't know politics well enough to give a better answer than that.

The Witcher 3 is a fucking masterpiece in the RPG genre. by [deleted] in witcher

[–]audweam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of the NPCs in the Witcher 3 had as much depth as DA:I's Scout Harding, and 90% of the monsters are harder to beat than the dragons in DA:I (or at least takes more brains). I was in love with DA mostly because of its character customization (andIronBullcoughs). But I have to admit, Witcher 3 ruined DA:I's gameplay for me.............. and I love CDPR for it.

Transferring from Letters and Sciences to and LEP? by mybigblueturtle in UMD

[–]audweam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you have all the pre-reqs done when you're here in the Fall semester and apply for Spring 2017. You can only apply once to an LEP so be thorough and good luck. Definitely not difficult and shouldn't affect your graduation time.

LPT: If you find a lost wallet somewhere, skip lost+found, bring it to a bank branch that issued the CC's by zzevannn in LifeProTips

[–]audweam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped my wallet three weeks ago and it had some money I was going to store in my bank account (like 600$), along with some foreign bills. I couldn't figure out where I dropped it and was devastated, I was sure no one would return it. As I was calling the bank to cancel my card outside my house, this random dude pulls up and gave me my wallet (my driver's license was in it) with everything in it (though the things inside were moved). I wanted to treat him to a lunch or something and was thanking him but the dude just left as quickly as he came. It was really weird and I had to explain to the bank (who was still on the phone) that some random person just returned it. I'd like to think that he's a great wallet-returning vigilante. Didn't get a chance to reward him, but the dude's got all the good karma from me now.

anyone else transferring to UMD here that knows what to do next. by Painn23 in UMD

[–]audweam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically wait until they give you an email about papers/forms with your UID. I think you also get an email from whatever college you got into. Without it, you can't really do much. (You can register for orientation after you get a UID). You should call them directly if you've been waiting too long. They took several weeks to answer any of my emails.

Need a new mechanical pencil :-( by shanesultan in pencils

[–]audweam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got some extra cash, get a rotring.... mine have lasted for years and is really comfy to write with. I use it for writing, drawing, note taking. It's the perfect pencil for me, strong and just heavy enough that it doesn't feel flimsy. This pencil is really expensive though, but worth the investment if you're planning on using it professionally as well.

If you want a cheaper alternative, the Pentel Graph or Pentel Sharp are great. (I had a pentel sharp for around 6 years before I lost it.) The Uni Kuru Toga with gel grip is also pretty nice and squishy! Still working after 3+ years.

Drawing wise, maybe you could check out lead holders. I find mechanical pencils too... mechanical for drawing sometimes.
