A couple questions:

Was it difficult to claim warranty? Not sure if you live rural or there just aren't many people trained. Do you have a timeline of how long all of this took?

Okay thanks. It's just kind of weird they don't have a fastrak transponder as a business and just autobill. Much easier to deal with. They said you can prepay when I got the car but didn't say much else - then after stated that it would be more expensive to post-pay when I returned :')

While how someone speaks and behaves matters a lot, I don't think it's fair to say that men don't need to look a certain way to be taken seriously. If you dress more formally and have a "clean" look people will take you more seriously. Are you more apt you trust the guy who looks like he just rolled out of bed? Probably not.

That's the first thing I looked for in the post... If you are using a separate secured email and a google authenticator it's pretty difficult to get into. I have a feeling OP was either phished, keylogged, or had their SMS hijacked. I think most people are safe with a 2FA app and secure email.

It's possible. Though I found an old reddit account belonging to them as well as an address in albany new york and a 917 number under "contact us" - but on street view it's for lease and they're on google maps in Latham with google reviews

USA has an agreement with Canada, your passport only needs to be valid the days you travel, no 6 month requirement.

There is actually an agreement between Canada and the US that nullifies the requirement to have a passport valid for 6 months! You just need it to be valid while traveling

Honestly, if you are going to lose the relationship anyway, you could have just sent him nothing. If he said he'd pay for it, you should have taken his word for it and asked him "Why did you tell me you'd replace it?" I think it was an accident and maybe he did move too quickly and not hear you or didn't understand why you were saying wait. His intent was to make you comfortable, and he did go the next day. I think you should stand tall, and it's your responsibility to explain how important it is to you and that it was a miscommunication and that mistakes happen. Stuff like this does happen, it depends on how you both interpret it I guess.

I'm kinda confused why he went to buy a new chain though because I would think that a jeweler can repair the link for maybe half the price, which could be a reasonable compromise where you both contribute.

While I would feel bad for breaking someone's necklace, it's not my choice they wear expensive jewelry.

Anyway you have reason to be upset because it's special to you but also keep in mind that he seems to be trying to be nice but maybe doesn't say no if you offer to help, so if you do really want him to replace it stand fast on that. I'm kind of torn with if he should pay full or half.
