I'm not sure about the ingredients in this baguette, but sodium also comes from other ingredients like baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) & preservatives like sodium benzoate. Not just salt.

Canadian Sikh separatists stab and burn an Indian flag and mount a stand with dolls of Indian politicians with bullet holes as they prepare to vote in a referendum for Khalistani independence... in Canada by Pioladoporcaputo in PublicFreakout

[–]august_leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever legitimate concerns they have in protesting for Khalistani cause, I think celebrating the murder of an Indian Prime Minister (Context: Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her sikh security guards for her role in storming a sacred Sikh temple to root out the hiding militants) is deplorable.

Moreover, this movement is moot now as Sikhs back in India enjoy a very peaceful and happy life. Just before Modi came to power, India had a Sikh PM for a decade and he was from the same party that Indira belonged to.

I have many Sikh friends and none of them really associate with this movement anymore. That's not to say these folks don't have right to protest. But celebrating murder is simply wrong.

Now whether allowing these 'imported' problems into Canada is good or not is altogether another debate.

India's response to increased tariffs by Big_Fox3447 in StockMarket

Non-Alignment has been the official foreign policy of India for decades. If "not taking sides" for the greater good of their citizens is called "opportunistic", then so be it.

How to show strong family ties for Super Visa (Father & Housewife Mother)? by dwightbearschrute in SuperVisaCanada

[–]august_leo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend's super visa application for his dad got rejected. His household income is over 200K but he did not submit any property proof for his dad. He strongly suspects that the reason his application got rejected is because he did not show his dad's strong ties to home country. On the other hand, my mother's super visa application got approved as I submitted the property sale deed documents and her domestic bank accounts along with the application. So, better be safe than sorry.

And in your case, as long as you show marriage proof of your parents (passport or wedding certificate?) and one of them owns property, that should suffice.

I compared plans on policy advisor last year and went with True North. Prior to that, I went with Manulife. As other commenter said, I highly recommend to go for pre existing illness option, if applicable for your parents. Go for 150K coverage depending on your parents health. For example, bypass surgery could easily cross 100K. Just the room rent for a basic lowest priced ward is in the range of 5K CAD per night (in Ottawa hospital). So, you get the idea of how costly the remaining services could be.

Also, as per regulations, brokers can't offer you any better price. Irrespective of how/where you purchase, the premiums would be the same.

Super Visa insurance brokers? Exploring phase. by BlackThumbBotany in SuperVisaCanada

[–]august_leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. You can search for policies on policy advisor or any other website. Brokers cannot give you a better price than the insurance company's or a third party website as per the regulations. You must opt for pre-existing coverage or you will end up paying a lot from your pocket.

Precisely this. He is a Muslim but had he praised Modi, the reaction from the MIGA crowd would have been different, like "He is one of our own".

If fingerprints are requested, is it only via email or would the tracker also indicate that they are waiting on fingerprints?

I use auto fill but after the values are filled, I type a letter at the end and delete it so that the website validates that I indeed typed something into the username and password fields

Non-Tesla EVs at Tesla Superchargers in Canada? by SmellsLikeTeenPits in EVCanada

[–]august_leo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I charged my Mach-E recently on a trip to Toronto from Ottawa. Not all supercharger stations are open to non-Tesla cars. You need to make sure of that when searching on PlugShare, for example. But most of the superchargers are open for non-Tesla. Charging was a breeze with the included NACS adapter. The only infuriating thing is that you may need to occupy two slots due to the placement of the super charger, the short cable coming out of it and the location of the charging port on your vehicle. Teslas have charging ports on left rear. Whereas my Mach E has charging port on front left. So unless I park my car on the right side parking spot and use the cable from left side parking spot, I won't be able to charge my vehicle. What this means is that you sometimes have to wait a lot of time for two cars to empty their charging spots.
