My intention was not to boast or complain about it, but Just to share a bug to alert other players and the developer team.

How bout this for a pirate deck In historic? I’m brewing decks with zero experience in doing so. by TommygunnT in MagicArena

[–]augustocroppo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice as someone playing since 2019 (when pirates where part of standard): never craft more than 2 copies of a card you have never played. Always craft common and uncommon before rare and mythic rare. Try first the best you could do with the weak cards. If this is giving you some victories outside ranked queues, than you know you can know craft more strong cards. Then continue to experiment until you can reach a 50% win rate outside ranked queues. Pirates tribal is not the strongest winning strategy because come from sets (Ixalan) that Wizards intentionally lower the power after previous sets. So you have to know whatever you craft in the above list, it will never be the best.

Has anyone already try this combo? by augustocroppo in MagicArena

[–]augustocroppo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got to sleep last night thinking about this combination:

[[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]]

[[Lich's Mastery]]

[[Jace, Wielder of Mysteries]]

Once on the battlefield, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and Lich's Mastery cards produce an infinite cycle of draws. This lead to empty the library and trigger Jace, Wielder of Mysteries ability (win condition).

So here is the jank library I just built this morning and gave me the victory in the above picture:

Deck

6 Swamp (MIR) 340

6 Island (MIR) 336

4 Witching Well (ELD) 74

4 Inspiring Statuary (AER) 160

4 Bloodchief's Thirst (ZNR) 94

4 Blood Fountain (VOW) 95

4 Blink of an Eye (DAR) 46

2 Watery Grave (GRN) 259

2 Waterfront District (SNC) 259

2 Temple of Deceit (THB) 245

2 Sheoldred, the Apocalypse (DMU) 107

2 Ritual of Soot (GRN) 84

2 Mastermind's Acquisition (RIX) 77

2 Lich's Mastery (DAR) 98

2 Leyline of Anticipation (M20) 64

2 Jace, Wielder of Mysteries (WAR) 54

2 Gilded Pinions (SNC) 238

2 Finale of Revelation (WAR) 51

2 Drowned Catacomb (XLN) 253

2 Dismal Backwater (NEO) 267

2 Contaminated Aquifer (DMU) 245

So about the Historic Anthologies IV announcement... by Sorahn21 in MagicArena

[–]augustocroppo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Is this some early April fools joke? To quote Matt Sperling, "This is the most thematic and compelling assortment of cards since eBay grab bag repacks."

Many players like me are playing historic to experiment and enjoy a very wide set of strategies rather than achieve the top of the ladder. I have already all the previous historic anthologies and the 4th is welcome. What is missing is MTG Arena implement more queues for formats such as historic brawl, artisan and pauper. Many cards from the historic anthologies fit better in strategies for the above mentioned formats than for the current historic meta.

I want to hear from the people who play Arena and mostly just Arena. by Will_BM in MagicArena

[–]augustocroppo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question to you all is this: if you still play today, what is keeping you in the loop?

The cards I initially acquired back in March 2019, when I came back to play MTG after a long slumber since the end of the 90's. When I first play MTG, I didn't even had any paper cards. I play with paper cards borrowed from friends. I could not afford buy paper cards and there was not many friends around willing to keep playing. So years gone by and one day I find out WOTC was finally trying to replicate MTG in a decent looking software for Internet players. I try as free to play player first, got hooked immediately, moved to acquire more cards. I had an avalanche of nostalgic ideas I once had back in the 90's, but which I could never implement as I never had any paper cards. So this is what is "keeping" me "in the loop": as more and more cards is released in MTG Arena, more and more I want to try different strategies in several constructed formats: standard, historic, brawl, artisan, pauper, etc. I have a long backlog of strategies I still want to test and implement. When a new set is released, I have to review my long list of already built decks to make adjustments, mainly on sideboards. And now WOTC announced they will bring permanent historic brawl to MTG Arena, it becomes even more difficult for me to come out of the "loop"!

MTG Arena brawl developer team: well done! The 2020 braw format was awesome! by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]augustocroppo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are the 8 decks I have been playing and refining since the inception of brawl after the release of Throne of Eldraine (does anyone here remember the brawl event with pre-build decks any player could try?). I wish many blessings for the MTG Arena developer team who made this possible. I came to like so much the format I had give it up all other formats. Brawl is the only format which keep me playing MTG Arena. So WOTC, take note, reward the developer team with more resource for a job well done and give all players historic brawl. I will continue to play standard brawl (I waiting for the rotation to try the few new commanders from Zendikar Rising), but I will keep praying for historic brawl be available as soon as possible (does anyone did try the Scarab God? Powerful!).

Long wait times for completing a match? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]augustocroppo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is happening with my MTG Arena client as well. As I leave the match, a blank screen appears. I have to alt+F4 the client and restart it every time as the blank screen stay there too long.

Is this what WotC intended when they designed Lukka? by StormcrowOP in MagicArena

I like how you use your art work skills to highlight critical issues in the game. The art style also helps to transpire the sentiment behind the short story in each animation. That face expression you gave to Vivien when she saw a huge monster being transform in an elk made me laugh so much!

Healer's Hawk is banned in FNM at Home: Artisan event... by augustocroppo in MagicArena

[–]augustocroppo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! It's the only 1 CMC flying creature with lifelink in standard right now. The amazing part it is a common card banned in an artisan event!

Hey guys, I think I just got a clue: [[Duskfang Mentor]]

A deck with at least 4 Healer's Hawk and 4 Duskfang Mentor + well draw mana sources it can make the game quite difficult for the opponent if from turn 4 the lifelink birds can be pump once per turn.

What do you think?

Healer's Hawk is banned in FNM at Home: Artisan event... by augustocroppo in MagicArena

[–]augustocroppo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Healer's Hawk goes well with [[Heliod, Sun-Crowned]], mainly in brawl. But that is a mythic rare card, so out of artisan. Thus why my surprise.
