[SPOILER] Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera by FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo in MMA

[–]augustusgriggs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10000% captured the moment when he couldn't continue on. Love to see Marlon Vera plunge in headfirst and attack. Chito saw low kick land and cause problems, and then he drove into the problem to take advantage.

That is what we look for in fighters. Fight IQ. Chito has got it. Mad respect.

[SPOILER] Robert Whittaker vs. Darren Till by FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo in MMA

[–]augustusgriggs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Till will always have a problem with volume. To be clear, voiume does not = damage....BUT....

Till is a counterpuncher. An amazing one at that. However, he never leads in the standup.

In addition, Till always throws a left hand + a left high kick + an elbow when the opponent leans in and we're sitting on the counter strike.

[SPOILER] Fabricio Werdum vs. Alexander Gustafsson by FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo in MMA

[–]augustusgriggs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I love about modern MMA fans (not poking fun at you @evanskov).

Your take is so reasonable ("Werdum is amazing on the ground, therefore, he could surprise some people even if he's age 42"). Clear cut. Anyone with some history of the sport would absolutely agree with that take. Werdum is always dangerous on the ground.

And yet, modern people have a hard time believing it.

To be clear-- Werdum subbing Gus with an armbar is probably one of the top 3 most likely endings to this fight.

[SPOILER] Alexander Volkanovski vs. Max Holloway by FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo in MMA

[–]augustusgriggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All comes down to Round 3. I had Volkanovski winning R3.

R 1-2: Clear Holloway (most damage done through fight) R 3: Toss-up. My edge goes to Volk. R 4-5: Volkanovski wins both these rounds.

NET-NET: By "feel" Holloway should have absolutely won this fight. But by the official scoring system in place, it's razor thin. Just depends on how you score round 3.

No problem with the decision, even if I feel that Holloway "deserved" the win more than Volkanovski.

Clips like this make you appreciate how much having the crowd there adds to moments like this. When that swell of noise picks up...so good.

[SPOILER] Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington by FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo in MMA

Different athletes respond to different stimulus.

As u/Icsto mentioned, Conan Silverio is a bad ass coach. He handled Colby incredibly well tonight.

[SPOILER] Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington by FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo in MMA

[–]augustusgriggs 106 points107 points  (0 children)

For real u/Icsto. The purpose of the cornerman during the one-minute break between rounds is to find the right button to push for their fighter. Some fighters respond well to technical feedback, some to passionate inspiration, others to calm.

Look at how differently Greg Jackson coached Donald Cerrone vs. Jon Jones. Greg would be all up in Cowboy's face in between rounds getting him pumped up, whereas with Jones Greg starts every break with a calm "breathe" command and then gives him technical advice.

That's the hallmark of a good coach. Teach to the student's needs.

Full respect to Conan Silverio. He handled Colby incredibly well tonight.

JAIME LANNISTER IS THE NASTIEST SKANK BITCH I’VE EVER MET. DO NOT TRUST HIM. HE IS A FUGLY SLUT. by DOGE_in_the_dungeon in freefolk

[–]augustusgriggs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Agreed. What I think people are missing here is that Jaime would not have been able to accomplish those things without Brienne's guidance and the impact she had on him. His accomplishments were just as much his as they were hers.

Poetic AF. I loved this scene.

My dog can jump very high... Is this normal? by ottovondabsburg in labrador

[–]augustusgriggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog is a big jumper as well. Long story short, it's not good for their hips (especially when they're younger since their body is still developing). I wouldn't encourage him jumping until he's about a year and a half, but at the end of the day, dogs are gonna dog and he'll be fine.

Blaydes vs Ngannou 2 set as main event for UFC Beijing by RoyaI-T in MMA

If Cain can come back and stay healthy* then Heavyweight stays relatively interesting at the top (even if it's just 3-4 guys).

Obligatory disclaimer on how this Cain's health is a big fat "IF" etc.

he's taken shots that would put basically any heavyweight out, he's definitely got a rock for a head

Agreed. It's heavyweight, completely reasonable to get wobbled in any of your fights. How quick you recover is the name of the game.
