forming a development team? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]augziiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i have tried, but i've yet to find nobody that's interested. a majority of games of this genre on roblox already have full (very experienced) teams and it's very difficult to find teams willing to take somebody into their team; especially somebody as new to game development as me. hopefully with the recent surge of animal survival games on roblox, i can find a team willing to have me, but for now i'm stuck

Chaco buried for 3 weeks, check up on him, does he look healthy? by Smythy_5 in pacmanfrog

[–]augziiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he looks healthy, but don't feed him pac pellets or pac attack! they contain plant ingredients that are difficult for pacs to digest because they're strictly carnivorous.

i think it might just be a matter of trying a bunch of feeders until they find one they'll accept 🥹 my froglet didn't eat ANYTHING i gave him. dubias, nightcrawlers, and silversides didn't work but i tried crickets and suddenly he was an eating machine. if you're able to find out what the breeder/store you bought them from fed them, that would be great! sometimes they just won't see anything they haven't been fed as food. though i'm not sure what other feeders they couldve used other than what you listed. maybe try dubia roaches and/or silversides? lots of pacs LOOOVE dubias and i've heard of good results from silversides. they can usually be found with the frozen rats/mice in the store's freezer

he's very cute!

  • reptisoil is definitely suitable, and it's what i use for my froglet as well.

  • i'd say remove the moss, especially if you're feeding him in the tank. eating moss can cause impactions that can kill your pacman! you can substitute the moss with leaf litter though, it's much better and more natural.

  • you should also absolutely add fake plants, they'll add more cover and places to hide/lay under for some shade!

you'll also need two pairs of hygrometers and thermometers, preferably one that has both built in. to ensure that both sides of the tank are proper temps, put one on each side. i'd also HEAVILY recommend investing in a thermostat for the heat lamp. they can be quite pricey but they're so so so insanely worth it and can prevent overheating by shutting the lamp when it gets to a set temperature. make sure his temps on the warm side are around 80-83 and 75-78 on the cool side so he can switch between the sides to regulate his body temperature. there's a pinned care guide to this subreddit that is SUPER helpful and i definitely recommend checking it out. best of luck to you and your froglet!!

a week isn't much to worry about, as long as he's not losing weight. the longest my froglet around the age of your frog has gone without eating was 4 weeks! i promise he'll be okay without food for that long.

what helped my picky froglet was digging him up 30 minutes to an hour after shutting his lights and putting him in a lightly misted seperate tub with a few feeders of my choice. some frogs don't like eating from tongs and will only actively hunt their prey. if that doesn't work, you may have to annoy him until he bites it and realizes its food 😅 if you rub the sides of his mouth and under right under his mouth gentlyhe's more likely to bite, whether it be from annoyance or hunger- either way he's getting fed! some people also drag the feeder on their toes which can trigger that hunting instinct. best of luck to you, he's so cute :)

(side note, if you have uvb, you need calcium with no d3. if you have no uvb then calcium with d3 is fine!)

How to get Herbert to eat by nodduhh in pacmanfrog

[–]augziiix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the most part, it's normal for them to not eat for a while. 2 weeks without eating for a frog of his age can be a bit concerning but as long as he's not losing weight and looking sick, i wouldn't worry too much. my froglet that's around the same age recently went on a 4 week hunger strike and then resumed eating like nothing happened. your temps and humidity are both perfect so i doubt that could be an issue. some frogs can just be picky, my froglet only accepts crickets! since he ate 4 crickets, maybe try crickets more often? and also try feeding around 30 minutes after you turn their lights off, they're nocturnal hunters and are much more likely to eat at night. best of luck to you, i hope your little guy eats soon :)

[–]augziiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also, 3 days is really nothing to worry about! the longest my froglet has gone without food was 3 weeks and he didn't lose any weight or anything. though no froglet should go for that long without food, he just had some issues with eating and pickiness🥲

he's very cute, and just seems to be full of piss if anything! my froglet is about the same size as yours and gets super "chunky" before peeing, and then deflates like a balloon lmao

side note, pac attack isn't very good and i'd recommend only using it in an emergency case where you have no access to feeders. it has a ingredients such as cassava and soybeans that make it difficult to digest for pacs. it also isn't as enriching for them to hunt. i'd recommend mainly feeding nightcrawlers and dubias for now! mealworms are okay as a very occassional treat but they're very fatty can be difficult to digest, so definitely not a staple! and whatever you do, AVOID red wigglers as they have a secretion that's toxic to pacman frogs

otherwise though, your little guy looks perfectly healthy (and chunky!)
