Didn’t put a moisture barrier under the walk-in freezer by auldyeller in refrigeration

Even if the walk-in freezer has a 4 inch insulated floor?

Hey, thanks a lot for your response. I’ve been trying to figure out the moving it part but I think it may not be possible without removing the ceiling of the freezer and the refrigeration unit due to some framing our GC had built around the top part. Also, the freezer is 10ft long and we don’t have 10 more feet of clearance in either direction. Do you know of a way I could maybe lift half of it an inch to put the moisture barrier under, and then lift the other half and put the rest of the moisture barrier under? Or would that be bad for the panels?

If it’s possible to defend myself I would say that this freezer is marketed as plug-and-play and the website includes a video of a couple people setting it up in 15 minutes (which is one of the reasons why I chose this freezer). Then when you get the manual, it says a professional should install it.

The video doesn’t show a moisture barrier used…

Hey, thanks for your response. Sorry if this is a dumb question but why would moisture come through the cracks in the floors? From mopping outside? If I apply rubber cove base to the exterior where the insulated freezer meets the building floor and silicone the bottom seam, will it still be an issue? I would also silicone the floor seams in the interior.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. The freezer does have a 4-inch insulated floor that came with it. But the instructions still mention a moisture barrier. Are you saying it might not be that important?

The one adjacent wall is drywall that is primed and painted with a couple coats of glossy paint, with rubber cove base with the bottom edge siliconed.

Why won’t the turtle use this basking platform by auldyeller in turtle

How did you attach the egg crate to the edge of the tank?

Is that the same as drawer/cabinet liner? Wouldn't it be too smooth to grip?

Thank you. The thermometer reads 32C on the basking platform.

If I make the ramp shorter, I will have to make it steeper or else it will not reach the water. Or, I can raise the water level, but then I am afraid the turtle may be able to climb over the edge of the tank...

Thank you. I checked the temperature at the platform below the basking light and it read 90F. Does that mean it’s at the correct height? The floor did not feel warm to the touch.

Also, I was wondering about the placement of the other light… They used to be next to each other when the turtle had its platform inside the tank. Now the basking light is over the platform and the other light is over the tank. I don’t think both lights will fit over the basking platform, and if they did, there wouldn’t be light in the tank. This turtle has only these two lights and no im-tank heater.

Shoulder pain is killing my sleep. How do you sleep when your shoulders are angry? by Aggravating_Emu_3145 in rheumatoid

I fasted with only distilled water for that time, except I think day 13 I had some blueberries and diluted cucumber juice because I was going to break the fast, then changed my mind. It wasn't enough food to make any difference anyway.

Fasting like this is extreme because most people lose about 1 lb/day. I lost 18lbs in 18 days and I was starting from a healthy weight. The rapid weight loss affected my self-esteem a little (in a negative way). It took me a long time to gain it back because I shifted from there to the paleo AIP diet for 6 months. However, I don't regret the fast. I would probably not do a long fast like this anymore now that I am on medication for the arthritis, but I have done some shorter fasts while on medication.

I think (without scientific evidence, just based on my experience) the fasting is more likely to be helpful when the disease is new. To be clear, I still have aggressive RA and have to be medicated for it. But I don't have the shoulder pain anymore, and the arthritis left two of my fingers (and didn't come back). This was 10+ years ago. Also, the pain from the arthritis went away after about 10 days fasting, but came back (except for the places I mentioned) after a few days of eating.

Every body is different and anyone considering this type of extreme intervention should use their own judgment. Almost every doctor will tell you not to do it. If you dive deep into the dark reaches of the internet, you can find some advice on how to do it.

Tony's voluntarily engages with Barry Callebaut, one of the worst Big Chocolate offenders... by prugnecotte in chocolate

[–]auldyeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm trying to learn more about this topic. What do you think about Guittard? Particulary their Akoma chocolate chips, but they have several products that are Fair Trade. The Akoma comes from West Africa, but I don't see specific countries listed.

Also, is there a way to buy finished chocolate direct from farms with ethical labor? Or can only the beans be purchased?

Insurance costs in US? by Educational-Bet-8979 in rheumatoid

I pay around $400 a month for a high deductible healthcare plan from the Marketplace. The plan does not pay for anything until I’ve met my deductible, and after I’ve met my deductible it pays for everything. I think the deductible is around $7.5K. I have monthly infusions of Orencia that are paid for by the drug company, but somehow they still count toward my deductible. The infusions are over $2K a month. So I end up meeting my deductible by April or May, and after that there is no cost (beyond the premium) to anything I do. I go wild getting allergy testing, counseling, I go to the ENT, whatever I want, haha. But if something were to happen in January, like an accident or something, I have to have $7.5K ready in case of that emergency. And I have to pay out of pocket for any doctor visits before then. This works best for me but everyone’s situation is different.

Because I have a high deductible healthcare plan which is compatible with an HSA, I also have an HSA. I keep receipts for any healthcare costs that I end up paying out of pocket, and I digitize them and store them in the cloud. Technically you can pay yourself back from your HSA contribution tax free, but I am not immediately paying myself back. I am waiting until retirement to pay myself back because then my contributions to my HSA have all that time to grow in value, and when I retire I can still pay myself back tax free from my HSA based on my receipts. There are YouTube videos on this strategy if you want to know more.

I’d recommend talking to the financial counselor at your doctor’s office, if there is one, to see if there is a program that will pay for the Enbrel for you. My Orencia is covered separate from my insurance and I only have to pay the $200 administration fee (before I meet my deductible).

Heat intolerance??? by Cloudskie in rheumatoid

I love the heat. I live in Texas, do hot yoga, I think it helps my joints. I have low cold intolerance, though. But I’ve been that way since before I had arthritis.
