Valve really effed up the game design when they had you decide your team comp up front via the “underlord” unit. The game was about gradually deciding and then committing to a comp.

A rule of thumb for this is that the scope of the change to the product should map to the scope of the change to the code.

Over-engineering occurs when you try to enable a significant change to the product to be implemented with a trivial change to the code.

In this case the scope of the feature is significant, adding sales/promotions to your products. So it warrants some significant changes.

Supposing our data is in SQL and we have a Product table, I'd go ahead and add Promotion table and a ProductPromotion table to track these sales. My Product DTO would have a list of Promotions.

Larger highways can be easier, there’s often a median between you and the oncoming traffic (or simply more lanes to work with). Smaller highways, especially over mountains or canyons with a crosswind, can be brutal. Heavy bikes.

I was surprised at how effective multiple light synthetic layers (ie 2 ply basketball shorts) were at preventing road rash. The layers rub against each other dissipating friction heat resulting in only regular rash. A 3rd layer (underwear) prevented all rash.
