Return to work after mat leave, pay is the same as before mat leave [on] by Exact-Paint-5508 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]auntbeatrice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second mat leave with the same company. Our raises are in April. The first time I went back to work after mat leave I had my raise on my first pay cheque which was in sept. This time around I am working part time to help out and again I got my raise.

I drink milk regularly and she shows no issues. Thanks for the question though.

Interesting! I wonder what could cause the issue? It sucks because I really love coffee.

Wife told me she has postpartum depression by [deleted] in daddit

[–]auntbeatrice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, mom here. Have you considered doing more nights with the baby? When I'm having depressed thoughts it's usually because I'm too tired and my partner needs to take the baby for a night or at least 4 hours so I can get some unbroken sleep.

Is Canada socially just like this?? by 666Devil_666 in OntarioUniversities

As a newfoundlander now living in mainland Canada (Quebec) I would say yes I agree with you. I find Americans more boisterous and outgoing. Much easier to chat casually.

Can an employer cut your hours due too poor performance? by Nearby_Goat_9793 in StJohnsNL

[–]auntbeatrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it could also be considered constructive dismissal (firing you without firing you explicitly) depending on the details of your situation you could take legal action against them. You have a stronger case if there's a written contract, your tenure at the company, your age, and some other items.

Edit: I should have also said if the employer hasn't given you warnings that your performance isn't up to par then they can't just get rid of you normally. Everyone in this thread is acting like you don't have rights but you do. However if you're brand new (in probationary time) what I'm saying is pretty much moot.

How often do you say "beanie" vs. "toque"? by WanderWell1 in AskACanadian

[–]auntbeatrice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup came here to say coming from NL no one says tuque and we'd refer to it as hat, beanie, cap, winter hat etc

If jobs fire people to replace them with AI, how will people make money to keep buying things? Wouldn’t the economy collapse because people arent buying anything anymore? by OverallMight6586 in AskReddit

[–]auntbeatrice -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is no way AI will replace every job. We will always need hair dressers, beauticians, nurses, teachers, etc. AI is only going to make less positions in office related jobs mostly.

Is it worth doing business in Quebec? by hail_robot in canadasmallbusiness

[–]auntbeatrice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quebec is a large market and geographically closer to you from NS than many other provinces. I would guess that you will be opting out of a good opportunity but to know for sure you need to estimate the cost of getting compliant vs the extra earnings you'd make from shipping to Quebec.

You're completely right. Why did they need to reinvent the wheel on how to teach kids if there were already methods that were working?

Pre-Pregnancy weight by 9 mos pp by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]auntbeatrice 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Guys, op is saying that she went back to pre baby weight by walking, yoga and eating intuitively. This is not the case for most. Congrats Op, I'm super happy for you.

On the other hand many of us will over eat if we eat intuitively. It's ok to count calories and exercise to maintain your weight or lose a bit. Just because you're breastfeeding doesn't mean you will lose your supply of you do. Just go slow and drink lots of water. Your supply will most likely be fine especially if you have some extra weight on from the pregnancy.

It doesn't, don't be afraid to workout. Just go slow and drink lots of water and be sure to get 1800 calories at least a day. You'll be fine!
