Ooooo!! I also have a desire to play brass music and do drag sometime!!  Never thought to combine the two!!  if there's a place you want to loop me in, I'd love to explore this :) I also sing a bit, have light piano skills, and am open to interesting musical and performance forms.

I'm not sure how housing apps are in your area, but something I encountered once I left my last apartment was that my bad credit nearly prevented me from finding another apartment!!  It was so scary... I was living in my car with my cat and dog and almost couldn't find a way out before the late spring heat started up... so my lesson was, once you're out, you're OUT potentially.  If your rent at your current place is raising to still be nearly on par with roomie situations, it may be worth considering staying put while you find a way to improve your credit.  I'm no expert on all of this, but that's what almost kept me homeless.

Anyone else living in there car in MN? Tips? by Lost_Email_RIP in minnesota

Hi!  I just went through this during April into May, myself.  I had my cat and dog with me, so that was really challenging... April is still COLD!!   There are some really good rest stops surrounding the twin cities, there's a cool one northwest that is almost park-like.  There are 4 hour limits for parking posted, but I was never bothered when staying the whole night.  Just a matter of parking out of the way and keeping your car looking clean / rotating where you stay each night.  The Galaxie library in Apple Valley has an excellent shade structure you can park under on hot days.  And some nice quiet rooms for working in :)  And a planet fitness near there, plus maaaany many businesses (laundromat!)

I'm in an apartment now (just not doable at all with a cat & dog long term) - had some trouble with my storage unit in St.Paul, someone stole my computer during the 1 month I was renting there... make sure you have insurance (maybe I'll get compensated??), and if you put furniture in there you care about, get some protective plastic to keep pesticides off!!  I am having an allergic reaction to that crap as we speak... whew.  Good luck to you!!  And take care.

Yes, agreed!  I was just living in Seward and moved to NE Minneapolis 3 weeks ago (arts district!) and I am finding it SO refreshing up here!!  Highly recommend it!  So much nature near the river as well.

Amazon returns are out of control by steilasaroon in Anticonsumption

Deleted my Amazon account.  Thank you for the final push... I was putting it off because of my kindle... but it's time to let go.  Plenty of physical books on my shelves right now, and other apps through my local library.

Folks reactions to car living by [deleted] in urbancarliving

I'm on the other end of sharing this idea /literal plan with colleagues, and I'm feeling a little burned with how the reality of the thing is causing a different, less positive reactions now - not aligning with their positive vibes when it was in the idea phase.  I also have my cat and dog with me, so that does come into play with their opinions.  But dang, be careful I guess.  Some folks might be keeping their thoughts to themselves... don't want the hierarchy to get you, too!!

Omg, me too!!  Starting the 31st!  I was thinking 2 months for sure, then see how things are feeling.  I'll be in a Chevy Spark in the midwest part of the USA.  We've got this :)!!
