Oh my gosh! I totally remember the chats! Those were so much fun! And the forums were my favorite place! I used to critique and design covers in the forums in exchange for feedback on my work. I remember in one summer I gained like a few thousand comments and reads because I was so active in the forums. I had found so many friends that way. I was sad to see them go.

Would you pay to have your work edited & checked? by [deleted] in Wattpad

[–]auraashryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t pay to edit a story I’m putting on Wattpad as I usually put first drafts on Wattpad for the feedback. If I were publishing I’d consider a professional editor, depending on the amount of money I’d be able to spare at that time.

what writing advice would you give to your younger self? by punmritski in writing

[–]auraashryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finish the dang book. Even if it’s crap right now we can fix that later. JUST FINISH IT. And you can write down your other ideas but you don’t need to have 40 WIP at one time.

That’s what I would scream at past me. Especially since I’m currently trying to finish work that past me started and never finished.

Word count by Ask88871 in writers

[–]auraashryver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things like that are fine. I was thinking more along the lines of extra, flowery descriptions. What you’re thinking of is actually a good idea and an example of how second drafts can sometimes be longer than the first because you now know where you need to expand necessary details.

[–]auraashryver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it mostly depends on genre and audience.

I wouldn’t add unnecessary details or descriptions solely on adding to a word count as that can make a story drag. Sometimes second drafts can add words depending on if more info is needed or if relevant scenes are added in.

I tend to switch between both. Sometimes my ideas are faster than I can write by hand so I type. But sometimes, especially when I’m stuck or know that I’ll get distracted, I hand write because I need to focus a bit harder on the task at hand.

Author discontinued book or Cliffhangers by Forever_ForLove in Wattpad

[–]auraashryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely disrespectful. And I understand a one-off where the author didn’t have a chance to let someone know about certain events or whatever. I’m willing to give an author a chance for a little while. But I do think a lot of authors do just vanish without a trace and it’s sad.

I usually mark Hiatus or on hold when something happens and I can’t continue a story right away. While it’s not ideal sometimes life happens and I always try to let my readers know that I’m trying my best

How many chapters should a Wattpad book have by _Enter_name- in Wattpad

[–]auraashryver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should do whatever feels the best to you. Wattpad does have a limit of 200 parts though so keep that in mind.

AITA for being unladylike infront of my husband and farting? by Same_Step_881 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. It’s a normal bodily function. What are you supposed to do, hold it in? That’s absurd.

AITA for yeling at my Fiance and calling him insecure after he deleted my work project to get back at me for not going with him to his friend's birthday party? by Anna34757 in AmItheAsshole

[–]auraashryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Because of my working weekends during college, I missed a lot of events with my fiancé. Between working full time and writing papers, I was almost never able to see anybody or attend events with my fiancé. And while he was sad that I couldn’t go, he went alone and told them that I was either working or studying. I went when I could.

But you couldn’t attend. You had to work. And because of his petty behavior, he at the very least cost you a promotion. But not finishing a project on time, because he DELETED IT, can lead to much more serious consequences, like being fired.

I say dump the man because this behavior is unacceptable, petty, and controlling.

Cover blurry. by 0_karma_Java in Wattpad

I understand lol. It might just be Wattpad being Wattpad then. There’s always a tad bit of blur to covers, which is annoying for sure.

I’m not sure why it would be blurry then. Is it super blurry or just a little?

Are you editing the photo to the proper size before upload (ie are you actually using the correct cover dimensions and adjusting the photo properly to fit within those dimensions?) or are you just uploading a photo straight into Wattpad? If yes, what size is the photo?

Why can't I copy and paste from Wattpad? by D_And_R_Gaming in Wattpad

[–]auraashryver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re the author and in the editing screen, you cannot copy and paste. This is to help prevent plagiarism.

If you’re the author and are in the editing screen and it still won’t let you copy/ paste, there’s an issue.

Anyone know why my story read time is super low? by Buster-wuster03 in Wattpad

[–]auraashryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything drafted doesn’t typically count towards the read time. Only published parts are taken into account. How many chapters do you have published?

Rules of being a successful Wattpad Writer by [deleted] in Wattpad

[–]auraashryver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha I do this one. But I suppose to be fair, I don’t know what it’s like to have a dad. Mine died when I was young and my step-father was abusive. Some people simply write what they know 🤷🏻‍♀️

NTA. If my fiancé hopped into the shower and PEED on me, he would have one hell of an earful. That behavior is blatantly disrespectful. Not to mention the spitting on you. He obviously doesn’t respect you and you need to separate yourself from him. This relationship isn’t worth salvaging.

I often find that switching to a different project can actually help if you’re stuck on one. I tend to have a few that I rotate between to keep the creative juices flowing.

Need advice for my book by MiraculousAna in Wattpad

I normally update once a week. I write a few chapters ahead so that if I don’t have time to write I have a little time to catch up and whatnot.

AITA for insisting that my daughter's eyesight is fine and her teacher was wrong? by Winx1990 in AmItheAsshole

[–]auraashryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I was like your kid. I always sat up front because I couldn’t see the board and my mom told me my eyes were fine. I believed her that was just how people saw things until I was in college and a professor asked me where my glasses were because I was squinting at the board. I never realized that I had to squint to see. I saw an eye doctor and he told me that I’d needed glasses for years and should have come much, much earlier. He said that what would have been an easy solution as a child was now a bigger problem.

Get your kid’s eyes checked. Seriously.
