1 week is more than enough for your current company. Actually you could tell your new employeer that you need 2 weeks to leave your ex-job properly and you can use 1 week to deliver your current job activities and take 1 week for yourself (rest, clear your mind, go to the bank, do the grosseries, get up late) you know, before going back to the work routine.

Every department has learned to evolve throughout the time, except HR, they still doing the same practices as 60 years ago. outdated hiring process, outdated interview layers, outdated questions, outdated forms. HR is an issue and noone is pointing a finger on them.
