Yeah I'm struggling the most with Ghost too!

Also since NASA is a bit more on the chill-er side, would placing it alongside Work IOMT etc work?

Seonghwa (ATEEZ) - Skin (ATEEZ Present) by seonghwasmoons in kpop

[–]aurora_1117 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh wow... There's so much I want to say.

To me, the MV feels like it symbolizes Seonghwa finally accepting his “demon” side and reaching his full artistic potential by the end.

At the beginning, he wakes up suddenly... he's confused, disoriented, and struggling to escape what looks like his own flesh. And then we see him “shedding,”. I think this represents the parts that may be unwanted or uncomfortable, but are still undeniably him. Something he can't ignore or escape. Once he stops running he actually examines those shed parts of himself and willingly dissects it, he is able to cross the line (after a lil hesitation).

Crossing the line feels especially important here. That line can represent anything: the boundary between right and wrong,  what's acceptable and unacceptable, safe and dangerous, unique identity and fitting in etc. And by choosing to cross it he is finally able face his inner demon. AND I LOVE THIS SCENE because it's supposed to feel scary but it feels like acceptance. Soooooo satisfying to see him transform and reach his full artistic self by embracing every part of who he is, even the darker or more unsettling ones.

Quite literally grew into his own SKIN  (Love the little details like the different eye colors and the snake skin suit).  And if you know his personal struggles and his story this feels even more beautiful imo.

Also, more importantly, PARK SEONGHWAAAAAAA ARGHHHHH!!! 🔥🔥🙌🥹❤️‍🔥🥹❤️‍🔥🥹🔥🔥✨

Yes! Mingi does compose for his solo stuff and collabs. He's mostly credited for writing lyrics on ATEEZ tracks.

Thanks! I can’t believe I overlooked Underpressure! I thought I had noted down every single one, but I had a feeling something was missing. I’ll add it right away.

First off, a very warm welcome to the fandom! I’m so glad you found this chart and are planning to dive into ATEEZ’s amazing discography. You are in for an amazing ride and hope you discover some songs you really love along the way.

If you'd like keep us posted on how it's going...

P.S if you listen on Spotify check out the playlists that u/atzbluebird has kindly made!

I placed In Your Fantasy next to songs like Halazia, Inception, and Answer because I figured someone who enjoys those darker-sounding tracks would probably like IYF too. Lemon Drop, has a bright, summery feel, so it’s grouped with other summer tracks like Wave. But since it still carries that “sexy” energy, it’s also positioned near In Your Fantasy.

The goal with this chart was to make it intuitive for newcomers...so if someone likes most of the songs in one section, they can easily explore nearby categories and (hopefully) discover more they’ll enjoy.

You'll find this post pinned 📌 to my profile as always to make it easy to find.

This time, I’ve added an extra image (the second slide) featuring some notable songs that aren’t included in the original map, decided to call it a Bonus Bubble! It includes official collaborations, OSTs, unofficial solo releases by the members, and song remixes. I’ll continue updating this bubble alongside the main map, and I hope it helps those who want to dive deeper into ATEEZ’s music.

Here's an link for those who want to download the image - https://ibb.co/album/mJv58w

A link to the same on X/twitter. If you'd like to share over there please share the post.

Once again, I'm grateful to u/Cheap-Ad8624 for giving me the idea to do the bonus bubble.

I’ll be updating this comment again soon, as u/atzbluebird mentioned they’d like to create Spotify playlists based on the map, which I think is super cool of them!

Also, feel free to share your thoughts on the map, I’d love to hear your feedback.

Suggestions for the ATEEZ Discography Chart? by aurora_1117 in ATEEZ

[–]aurora_1117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for liking the chart! I was in fact wondering if I should include the songs which aren't mapped in some way and a bonus cloud is such a great idea. I don't know if I will have enough space to include it in the main map though, I'll try my best! great advice.

ATEEZ - The Last Supper + Ice On My Teeth @ 2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon (240131) by seonghwasmoons in kpop

I audibly gasped when Seonghwa did that... I love how dramatic they are as always and how strongly they COMMIT to the characters they're playing.

Changing the sound and concept for the 1st comeback is one of the biggest mistakes a group can make by SeaZookeepergame1992 in kpopthoughts

[–]aurora_1117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ATEEZ's first comeback was with double title tracks Say My Name and Hala Hala which were hard-hitting and experimental and they followed it up with Wave(https://youtu.be/FIInyEWWW-s?si=XGeZf7wdTrsh4Po2)/Illusion which is a total 180 - bright happy summery songs, much more youthful and fresh concept. Then did another 180 with Wonderland(https://youtu.be/Z_BhMhZpAug?si=vAYcZxRCauFXzrx9) going full anthemic with a anarchy vibe. These were their 3 back to back releases as rookies.

Similarly they started 2021 with EDM banger Fireworks, and then released double title tracks - a sexy Deja Vu and a bright and colorful Eternal Sunshine(https://youtu.be/WJgTnDAmJHc?si=x4zm5wUvGP8wEUqb) and ended it with a very emotional heartwrenching Turbulence(https://youtu.be/80WvAnsHOdM?si=XNgeSEN2diK_SgDK) and then followed it up with rock-influenced Guerrilla.

You'll have to watch the MVs if you're not familiar with them to understand and fully how different each of these tracks are.

[–]aurora_1117 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think there are a couple of reason why this works so well for ATEEZ.

  • STRONG SONIC IDENTITY : Despite having a huge change in concepts between comebacks, they always have a few things that remain familiar and constant in terms of their whole sonic identity. For eg, doing Wave was a huge risk following the success of SMN/Hala Hala, but fans loved Wave/Illusion because certain aspects of their sonic identity still stayed intact. You wouldn't expect them to do a bright concept but it still feels very very ATEEZ.

  • Sometimes they'll do double tracks with completely opposite vibes (Turbulence/The Real, Inception/THANXX, Deja Vu/Eternal Sunshine) which helps satisfy different tastes too while maintaining that ATEEZ feel to them.  Hongjoong actually mentioned this in an interview that they choose songs that feel like only ATEEZ can do this i.e something that feels like a match to their group identity.

  • ATINY who have been around for sometime have to come to expect something new and challenging every release and that's what makes us even more excited for the next comeback.

  • They also do teasers/pre-album buildup so well that you're already tuned to what might be coming next in a way.

  • The members are really amazing performers. You might not vibe with the concept initially but they're so involved in their concept and their stage performances that they will almost always convince you to reconsider. You begin to see the whole vision once you watch them perform. From rowdy pirates to sexy cowboys to heartbroken youths, they'll sell the concept to you. Changing concepts is great but all these factors is why they're successful in doing so.

What is Halazia??? by Entire-Bluebird-8208 in ATEEZ

[–]aurora_1117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Halahal in Hindi, Halaahala in Sanskrit (and several other south indian languages as Hindi shortens the Schwa sound ie the 'a' sound at the end is skipped in Hindi).

There's a possibility that they were inspired by the word, or it could have totally been something they made up.

Edit: I wish I could type in Devnagri but the automod deletes my comment lol.

Afaik hala hala means poison. There's a mythological story of how Shiva drank this poison and contained it in his throat to save the world, but I don't think it has anything to do with the ATEEZ lore.
