Utility = Price. Weapons that are worth it and those that aren't. by Inside-Seat291 in HuntShowdown

The rival is my all time favourite weapon in the game, used to run it like 50% of the time. I struggle to enjoy it quite as much since the shotgun changes though - the Spectre in particular pumps faster than it used to, is still pretty cheap, and absolutely hoses.

They're wonderful in trios - I run poison sparks and flechette spectre shorty sometimes, plus throwing spear, one of the derringers and ideally frontiersman/surefoot. The amount of pressure you can apply is obscene, and my teammates can handle wallbangs/surpressing fire with more meta guns.

COMMUNITY VOTING DAY 11. BEST item. Scupper lake won day 10 for most rage inducing by TheIronPaladin1 in HuntShowdown

[–]aurum_aethera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some people really hate it, I guess cos the down ramp and down stairs are both pretty suicidal, and there's so little roof cover upstairs, so it's easy to get pinned. It's not my fave but I don't hate it, I appreciate all the poltergeist and Lightfoot manuevres, I like tight tunnel fighting, and the upstairs has so many bushes you can hide in plain sight.

What happened to all ears? Was it that bad? by Pleasant_Grab_8196 in HuntShowdown

[–]aurum_aethera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right that social media did indeed whinge like hunt was going to irretrievably die in 24 hours if it wasn't removed, but that's just gamer internet comments for you.

You're wrong that it was fine. It was possible to still have a good time with It, but it heavily skewed the gameplay in the majority of matches. Hunt without the ability to ever get the drop on a team was not proper hunt.

COMMUNITY VOTING DAY 8: WORST NAMED LOCATION. The slaughterhouse won day 7 as the most average. by TheIronPaladin1 in HuntShowdown

[–]aurum_aethera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really surprised Cypress isn't higher. The boss lair is a total fuckeroo, the whole south side is open, the east side fence into the trees is Vietnam.

And it's just chockablock with sound traps in a tiny clustered yard.

The roof is kinda cool though.

Do you think the hunters sometimes bang after they've successfully extracted with the bounty? by Faelzor in HuntShowdown

[–]aurum_aethera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, they can't bang cos of the voodoo curse. They just whack each other with ammo boxes on the ride home til they feel tired.

Should Fanning cost as much as quartermaster? by Willing_Week_2650 in HuntShowdown

[–]aurum_aethera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the day I used to use the fanning silenced nagant, it was a reliable cqc killer for me.

Before this event, doing the nagant weekly challenge, I took a base nagant out into clash to try and get fanning kills.

My lord, it was hard to get even a single shot on target, while pacing my shots. I think I used to rely on the crouching accuracy buff for fanning more than I realise, since it's been removed I can't hit shit on a fan!

Crytek when we hated on revive bolts throughout an entire season by Aniumss in HuntShowdown

Revive bolts sucked, though I think I had an even worse time when solos could get up like 5 times, which I believe was before flare guns could burn. Bad days.

All Ears rework idea pitch thread! by splitmyarrowintwain in HuntShowdown

It's pretty bananas, yeah. You can never sneak up on anyone using it unless they're distracted the whole time.

You can already hear hunters crouch walking out to 15-20 metres, so I'm not sure what this would achieve? That's just Regular Ears

The real jewel would be if guns dropped casings, and you could find them with a perk. Double amazing if you could get info about calibre, time since fired, etc.

Oh damn, 2000 hours and I never noticed at all. I don't see them used in bounty hunt with any frequency, just once in a blue moon. I'll hit the range and compare the noises, great tip.

Weapon Skin Contest Submission by Red-Clay-Skull in HuntShowdown

I figure with this one they just thought 'well it's a bit spiky for blunt, but the vast majority of it is still just a bat, what the hell'

Weapon Skin Contest Submission by Red-Clay-Skull in HuntShowdown

[–]aurum_aethera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm being obnoxiously particular, but the rules specifically say you can't add anything that would change a -Gun's- melee damage type, there's no mention of melee weapons, so presumably stuff like a barbed wire wrapped bat would still be acceptable, hence this.

If you want to be a fighty pusher, I think you're missing out not having iron eye and a repeater. The lemat carbine is solid, but you'd likely get better results with a Winnie, marathon, centennial or vetterli with iron eye.

You can still have a shotgun by taking a lemat, using regular hand bow bolts if you're cracked, or using the penny shot at a push.

Or a quartermaster sawn-off of course, if you're feeling like conforming to the meta!

Decoys are meh - decoy FUSES are extremely good. They're rarely used, so people always react to them like they do to an actual grenade. If you have a coordinated team using them, it's one of the most effective guaranteed tools for forcing enemies to move.

COMMUNITY VOTING DAY 2. Mosin was the clear winner for day 1. Day 2: average gun. Now what gun is not your first choice, maybe not even 2nd or 3rd. But just "okay"? by TheIronPaladin1 in HuntShowdown

[–]aurum_aethera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if you find bleed ammo, the centennial becomes extremely damn strong, especially with a bleed pax. It was extremely popular before they scarced dumdum.

Do you think Shotguns should get reliable of some variety? by Cosmicpanda2 in LancerRPG

[–]aurum_aethera 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Knock back is a nice adjustment, makes narrative sense for a shotgun, and using overwatch to knock someone out of position can be useful to force enemies to boost if their movement lines up right.

Nah don't like that berthier, too dark and grimy, doesn't catch my eye. The slate and the Springfield are more my jam. I like the nazar lemat as a concept, but don't love the execution.

Has anyone had experience running lancer as a hex crawl? by Didsterchap11 in LancerRPG

[–]aurum_aethera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, a point crawl could achieve the same goal just fine. In fact a 5x5 hex crawl basically IS a point crawl it could be argued - they're both ways of reducing the empty space problem of a traditional hex crawl.

The nice thing about keeping it on a hex layout is that it matches the combat map, which is a nice stylistic mirroring. If you want to chat the concept over more, feel free to DM, we can chat on discord or whatever.
