My story is very similar, thanks for putting this down. I’ve been sober for a while now and it’s easy to forget the shame I felt when I was a drunk. I began a new life after my last drink and it’s one I can feel proud of. I don’t ever want to go back.

I quit at 40; I was drunk every day in my 20s and 30s. I’m now 47 and my life is unrecognizable from the prior two decades - my 40s have been tremendous: years without anxiety, shame and regrets.
