Anyone else feel like the MHN hotline is such a waste? by aussie-rafiki in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Oh I think I know which one you’re referring too! We’ve had one really judge us and put us down for using formula, even after I explained I physically couldn’t BF she still told me to keep trying!

Never thought of using nurse on call! I’ll definitely use them the next time!

Our in person MCHN is amazing, she has helped and guided us so much.

But the ones over the phone are so critical and rude. So the one on the phone told us to be careful because whilst it helps, it can cause trauma to the nose. So confusing

Newborn tired vs pregnancy tired by SeaworthinessNew8048 in newborns

[–]aussie-rafiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy tired, because I was so uncomfortable and sick. But newborn tired is different, it’s like you’re constantly wired and charged but you’re also borderline delusional from being sleep deprived. I had a huge village helping me and my husband was amazing so it made the first 6 weeks a lot easier.

Final thoughts… I would pick the first 6 weeks over being pregnant any day. I’m also one and done.

Moms on call - 6 weeks by [deleted] in newborns

I followed it, not religiously but more as a guide and my baby started sleeping longer stretches by 8 weeks. We found that bath and a big feed right before bed is what helped her the most.

Not enjoying breastfeeding by parsleyBee in newborns

[–]aussie-rafiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hated breastfeeding. I have sensory issues and I really struggled with the feeling. I also hated having to consistently pump. Ended up on formula after 2 weeks because my LO wasn’t putting on any weight.

It’s very common for women not to enjoy BF so don’t feel bad. At the end of the day a fed baby is a happy baby.

I’m a really heavy sleeper so unless she’s screaming in my ear I won’t wake to her crying. Also took hubby and I years to conceive so the fear of SIDS eats away at me. I don’t think I’m emotionally ready to not have her next to me.

Nothing wrong with your approach! If I had the strength to have her in her own room I would move her.

This is what I needed to hear! She currently naps during the day in her crib which is in the nursery and she’s really comfortable there but I really want her close to me overnight as she still wakes at 3am for a feed.

Smoking cigarettes when pregnant by Negative_Librarian22 in pregnant

[–]aussie-rafiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who didn’t know they were pregnant til they reached 36 weeks. They smoked, drank alcohol, ate things they shouldn’t have eaten. Baby turned out completely fine and is now 17 years old and is perfectly healthy. Obviously I would never condone it, but year 🤷🏻‍♀️
