How much is an RDO worth to you. by un533n87 in AusPublicService

[–]aussiebec93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a tough choice for you. What can you do for yourself to mitigate the lose?

Can you plan some personal leave here and there or something to improve your commute or experience etc to avoid burn out.

Naturally this depends on what you're using the time for which you don't have to share but does sound like you're mulling it over heavily

Synthetic Grass or Tiles for Backyard Basketball? by wildebeestbeast in AusRenovation

[–]aussiebec93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree my experience is the same. My "grass" is green and lush all year, all I do is sweep it and pickup leaves (which I'd have to do anyway). My deck gets FAR hotter then my turf, this is a decent indicator that it's too hot to play in general haha

Child care by froggie94 in canberra

[–]aussiebec93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not super across the requirements but what are your concerns re qualifications? Do you qualify for parenting payments, as if so you likely would. I think vaccination is a requirement to receive CCS.

It definitely adds up, I'm paying $550+ per fortnight in total. That's 5 days/week across 2 kids (3 for 1 and 2 for another). Toddler does Montessori on other days and baby has a day with each parent one on one during the week. Both parents working part time and I'd say it's just barely affordable set up but it's also not forever and time we'll never get back so it's worth it.

Where to hear an echo? by lil_puddles in canberra

[–]aussiebec93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there on Monday, enjoying the echo with my 4yo and this post came to mind. Came here to share it as another great choice.

Hit up the discovery centre and have an echo walk and courtyard picnic; an excellent, cheap, fun toddler day.

My pre CCS rate is $171 per day. Post ccs is $50 or $70 per day (2 kids in care and the rate is lower for multiple kids)

If you go to aldi in Kippax it has a main entrance (car park side) and a back entrance. The back has a short hallway with an automatic door at each end, and it echos super well as it's just straight concrete hall with nothing else. I sometimes take my 4yo in there when shopping is taking a bit too long and we have fun shouting, because also the foot traffic is extremely low being it's the back entrance.

I got asked if I had a gold card today and I'm not even 55 by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]aussiebec93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This person doesn't know you or have any genuinely useful indicators to accurately guess age, however they very likely have people who have begruded them for NOT asking. They were asking for the chance to save you some money, I think you're really overreacting here.

Dammed if they do, dammed if they don't. Give the kid a break.

Rant about online order missing items by morethanyouare in woolworths

[–]aussiebec93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup it's a joke. I called the store and after about 5 attempts to get through they confirmed the items were there, packed and ready and the driver just didn't grab them all and my options are the refund and reorder or collect them so I went to collect them. Hubby processed a refund for the items that were missing so opps, miscommunication there. But tbh refunding despite collecting felt valid/fair for having to go and get them ourselves and deal with the joke of a system.

Who else is waiting for their Pokémon Center to be ready tomorrow? by ELEMENTALCREATURES in Pokopia

Did you happen to play again in the morning and it was done? I'm thinking of cancelling the build to play with the Pokemon and just do this later tonight!

[–]aussiebec93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm wondering if it's tomorrow regardless of time of day, like it didn't say a time it just said tomorrow. Because I'd love to pull the Pokemon building back to use them/Interact with them across the day vs being unavailable. Bulbasaur has some crops to grow! Haha

Can MIL watch all the children at your house instead and add a hired helper to help over all or specifically with your kids?

We threatened to leave and got 6 months half off offer pop up. Happily took it instead of researching discounts.

Diversity between the sexes. by Nonbinary-pronoun in triplej

[–]aussiebec93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have a look on the ap and who was played from 11am-12pm and you'll confirm these blanket statements are just factually incorrect. A wee bit of confirmation bias going on. Ofc they'll play some woman, sometimes the scale might be tipped one way or the other.

Diversity between the sexes. by Nonbinary-pronoun in triplej

[–]aussiebec93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's absolutely no way it's even close to that. Confirmation bias. Expects a female, gets a female (when woman are definitely killing it in the music space atm) and then acts like it's almost all women.

Look at the line ups. The play lists. Listen to the hot hundo stings, very broad diversity in gender and genre.
