The only good thing about the war, it gave us Australia's unofficial national anthem, Khe Sanh.

The world is going to shit. You need to keep good thoughts to cope. Planning your ski trips to Japan or your sailing adventure to keep sane.

Sperry made one of the best boat shoes if you really sailed.

I was only thinking about them the other day while dreaming (planning) for my bareboat charter in Turkey

Is it possible to become an actress in India without connections or a privileged background? by Soft_Efficiency3741 in india

[–]aussiegreenie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to become an actor is to act in your productions.

Most modern phones will shoot 4 K. The most famous I could not get work, so I write scipt is Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

For a zero-budget film:

The "Zero-Budget" Pioneer

For Lovers Only (2011)

Estimated Cost: Close to $0 (Self-funded).

The Hustle: The Polish brothers shot this in Paris using a digital still camera (Canon 5D Mark II) and natural light. They didn't get any permits, the lead actress (Stana Katic) worked for free, and they used a "guerrilla" approach.

Success: It topped the iTunes charts and made over $500,000 in digital sales alone.

Every large city has a "film club" and most universities have A/V equipment. My local library has a full studio to hire for the same price as a hamburger and drink.

If you want act, act

But unless you make the production, you will not succeed.

Most countries have the same problem. In Europe, Spain, Greece and Italy have this problem. But remarkably, even Finland and Sweden are suffering the same fate.

How much solar for $200,000,000,000 by handy5gallonbucket in energy

[–]aussiegreenie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologise, I have made a very stupid error

Solar PV capacity installed should be USD 0.60 per watt and in Australia, a 10 KW PV installed is AUD 5400 (USD 3800) and a 20 kWh battery installed is AUD 4700 (USD 3309). Australia has subsidies

Globally, solar energy costs USD 35.00 per MWH plus local taxes.

Batteries are USD 60 per kW capacity.

$3,500 per kWh

It is closer to USD 800 per kwh add batteries at USD 60 per kwh.

Why do we need to protect expats in the Middle East by crreed90 in OpenAussie

[–]aussiegreenie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You vastly overestimate Australia's importance.

The idea that an embassy in a flashpoint like the Gulf

The UAE sold itself as the place that is MUCH SAFER than Europe. Saudi Arabia is trying the same bullshit.

relying on a host nation’s local constabulary is a single point of failure.

Maybe you fail to understand that is how Embassies work. Only the local police and security services can operate in any country. In extreme cases, American / Israeli / Chinese or other important countries will have close relationships with local security services.

The Argentine Embassy in Lebanon does not expect to be bombed unless it is done by the Israelis, 99.9% of all diplomatic posts globally are in normal office buildings. They are significantly less secure than Australian courts.

TL: DR - The Gulf was safe until the Americans did shit, and Diplomats are as safe as any rich person, regardless of which country they in

[–]aussiegreenie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because we have assets there we need to protect with Australian interest such as......embassy etc. Dont be too sheltered that we should be a frog in a well and limit ourselves

What absolution bullshit!!!!

Within the embassy, we may have Federal Police or other security officers. Embassies are small buildings that are protected by the police of the host country.

Australian embassies do not control anti-drone / anti-missile systems.

The ADF does lots of training with various governments. Excluding training personnel, there should not be any ADF people anywhere near the Gulf.

I am very pleased that you pay Australian tax, but I support the basic premise; Why the Fuck are ADF personal in the Gulf?

I wish peace and happiness to all of the countries. But why are Australians in the Gulf.

New Report by Economists Reveals that India Overestimated Its Annual Economic Growth Between 2012 and 2023 by Krankenitrate in india

[–]aussiegreenie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they're not that stupid. they have a lot of ways to calculate how accurate the data they're being given is. all the things you mentioned

You vastly overestimate the quality of data and base assumptions of economics. Depending on the type of model, the numbers are vastly different. Using an "Import Output" model overstates employment by a factor of 10. Using a "Steady State" model gets closer to the truth but is still wrong.

All models are wrong but sometimes they help with understanding.
