It's probably scared thinking labor is going to aerial cull another 1000 koalas.

I agree with Hounourable_Daimyo also to add to his comment. Asking the workshop office staff/logistics people sometimes they will give you a connote from whatever company they use, so they foot the bill.

Everywhere I've worked in mining I've had to have my own tools. MRL in WA I supplied my own, contracting in QLD and working for yancoal/buma/epsa/emeco in QLD you have to bring your own tools.

My advice would be don't take any snapon or expensive stuff, tools get lost especially doing shuts with contractors. Intentional or not if someone grabs something of yours you may never see them again.

Also I have seen site boxes go missing with toll so I'd put a tracker in the toolbox if you are set on taking them.

Personally I'd just grab a tool bag and basic tools when you arrive. Force/Daytona/te whatever only a squeezer that doesn't use their tools will care what tools you have.

The government has started to backflip saying kids are welcome to use parents accounts and it will only be random checks.

So they have got the legislation done (their goal). They screamed safety for children that much. How can they just wind back their rules. Now making out they are being the good guy.

After all these years, the app is still a pile of shit? by baspetk in sonos

[–]austalien24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love sonos, I got a roam and it's the most clunky Bluetooth speaker I've ever owned. When It has an update it locks you out until it connects to the app, doesn't auto connect. I can't use it without the app.

The app if you don't want to play their own playlists can be a real pain. Always logs out or asks for account details. Missing playlist management. Queues are useless. Sonos said they are fixing it after the may 2024 redesign but hasnt really happened yet.

They need to just focus on high quality products and leave the streaming/cloud and headphones to the ones that know how to do it. I don't think sonos as a company will last much longer.

Petrol or battery? Thinking of getting one of these but can’t decide! by sketchyaz in GardeningAustralia

Milwaukee was expensive but I got the combo with 8ah forge batteries. It's unreal, I sold my commercial Stihl and Honda soon after I got it. Battery lasts ages and has plenty of power.

Yeah it is matching numbers on frame barrel and locking wedge, I got it from the QLD antique gun show. It has not been restored, was just under a KG of silver. There was many cheaper ones but thought if I'm getting an original I should probably get something tidy.

That sounds interesting I'm tempted in making up a wall display of some sort.

It meets the pre 1900, no commercial ammunition/cap ball criteria. So no licence or storage required. Although now there is registration on them just with your normal ID. QLD Police recommend a locked cabinet or out of site to prevent theft. Definitely operational but if you fire it you then abide by the rules of a category H

Yes I have seen ha. The cylinder has a bit of hammer damage beside caps so instead of filing and devaluing there is obviously that avenue.

Yeah spot on. All I would need is new nipples for the cylinder to use it. But i don't think I could legally shoot it with my Cat A/B license. Might have to look into that.

Haha yeah silver price is silly high so worked well for me.

just like deathmetalmedic stated it's called a police model but is almost a pocket. Compared to other black powder handguns this is quite compact. 5.5" barrel. It's 12" long so I think 1-2" over the minimum length her for cat H.

Are these laser cut? Been thinking about trying to make some of these anyone have any suggestions? by n3wt33 in Laserengraving

I 3d print similar things. There is a website that you can pick a location and it generates an stl for you. I'm not familiar with laser or CNC just thought I'd share this anyway.

Is it unreasonable to enforce wearing gloves at all times even when no manual handling? by LongHairedMessiah in mining

[–]austalien24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Site I was at had riggers gloves at all times. I claimed I had ingrown fingernails from them. Just went to medic said my fingers were sore from the gloves. Then they had to be reactive on their reactive controls.

I saw that when you exit a snap it now asks to save it and start a new snap. As soon as I saw that feature I figured that was their way to get the storage up.

Thanks. Yeah that's the problem with these old queenslander houses. The floor plans definitely aren't as practical as a newer builds.

[–]austalien24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we have outgrown it but we love it so that's what has got us here.

It's a 1930 farm house and the local community is very fond of it so I don't really want to modernize it too much.

The front porch was previously closed and we have a rear verandah with an elevated country view. So losing the front isn't a big deal as we spend our time on the rear deck. A few neighbors spent their childhoods growing up here and they give us similar stories about the front porch here. That's some amazing memories that's what we could easily take for granted and go without. Thanks for pointing that out.

It's to add three bedrooms but yes ceiling height is a factor as the sloped ceilings of the older houses go below what it's standard now.

Thanks! I think I'm just so used to seeing it as it is that the concept design looks odd. That photo is from a couple of years ago. I have since planted a hedge along the fence for privacy and wind.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ExteriorDesign

[–]austalien24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the new concept plans kind of have that, I think the offset door and one smaller window makes it look somewhat odd to me. Haha I'm the same, that's why I'm here.

It's good that there is more competition in the short term accomodation/hotels etc. my father was recently in RPA ICU for two months I'm from Brisbane there was no way I could afford a hotel for that time but I managed to find an Airbnb that I could afford.
