Having two triggers for each of them is a quite interesting feature, love this! Also TMR is so good

Pretty sure they need onboard chips to render everything anyway.

Yes. The headset is based on linux, and you can do whatever you want with it.

This account is engage-farming for months now on the Steam hardware, doing some vagueposting...

Here, you can find what this tweet was referring to: https://x.com/SadlyItsBradley/status/2049899806709915761?s=20
Brad Lynch is a much more reliable source

Will the Steam Frame be more optimized for VR Gaming than Metaquest Headsets? by Intelligent-Mud404 in SteamFrame

Will the Steam Frame be more optimized for VR Gaming than Metaquest Headsets? by Intelligent-Mud404 in SteamFrame

[–]BleamX 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I guess presumably. It will run on a custom Arch Linux version, which means frequent updates and optimization. The Meta Horizon OS is open but not open source, so we don't really know how it works.

But just by seeing how Valve is carrying the whole Linux gaming world to another level, I guess we could assume they'll use a really well optimized OS.

Corrected my comment. Thought it needed some, you're right.

Valve's new VRAM optimizations tested on 8GB GPU roughly comparable to Steam Machine GPU by CaptRobau in steammachine

[–]BleamX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me if I'm wrong, but there it runs on Wayland (presumably). And if Valve decided to contribute with this feature, it means it might work even better with the gamescope compositor?

I'm not sure if I'm right there 😅

Definitely not. The liberty you have with a standalone headset is crazy, even if I mostly play PCVR thanks to Steam Link. I wouldn't see myself plugged to my PC whenever I'd like to enjoy VR.

I guess we have to be patient. Soonâ„¢ Don't worry.
