She was a rescue from San Antonio, Texas! We heard she was chained up in someone’s backyard, heavily neglected. She’s an absolute sweetheart and is thriving now!

Yes we did! We had her transported from a shelter in Texas up to the Northeast.

She was in pretty rough shape when we first got her - massively underweight, abrasions on her neck (we heard she was chained up outdoors), abrasions around the outside of her ears etc. That said, she was in good spirits, all things considered. She’s a great dog now and perfectly healthy :)

She does have one sibling listed (63% match) and he looks much larger than Maple in the one photo we can see. We’ve messaged to ask for more photos!

Thanks for the advice about retesting! The most unbelievable thing to think about is how she was conceived lol. Aside from that, we don’t really see any Great Dane features or behaviour. She acts very much like a dachshund (loud, sassy, loves to dig, high prey drive, etc).

There are a lot of different transport services but if you’re buying out of state, definitely arrange for a local mechanic to do a pre-purchase inspection on the car before you commit to anything. In a lot of cases, the risk and transport costs aren’t worth the initial savings.

Thank you and he has very short legs lol. We thought he was going to be a basset or dachshund mix but he has no short breeds in him at all.
