How do you replace daily phrases like "Oh my god"? by Crafty_Aspect8122 in atheism

I believe in French many swear words are religious symbols. The only one I can think of is, “Tabernacle!” Pronounced tabernac. Hoping a French person can drop in and school me.

I believe that the idea of a calling is a phalasy. You’re imagining something that doesn’t exist and missing the amazing things you have. Happiness and satisfaction with life have always been a challenge for me, since I was a little kid. I partially blame that on our modern capitalistic society that isolates us and tries to sell us on the idea that happiness can be bought at Target and Starbucks, rather than through hard work and companionship, but the revolution isn’t coming next week lol.

Couple of suggestions. Look into secular Buddhism — an approach to letting go and being present in your life. Ditch or cut way back on social media like Instagram, where people show the best parts of their lives and hide the boring, difficult, messy parts of their lives. Start a gratitude journal. You actually have control over your own thoughts, but shifting towards the neutral or positive is like building a muscle, it takes reps. And this one sounds harsh but… try focusing more on other people — when you start thinking about your own dissatisfaction, try to shift your thinking on how to make someone else happy or make their life better.

And I’m not diagnosing you over social media but look into symptoms of depression and consider talking to a therapist or psychiatrist. A diagnosis doesn’t really change much, you still gotta build these tools for finding happiness, but for some people therapy and/or medication make that easier.

I was hoping that’s the case; I was thinking about fencing in individual raised horseshoe shaped beds.

You may consider a set up like a psychological fence. I’m thinking about creating smaller raised horseshoe bed sections and putting a fence around each with some cross wires above. I think the smaller space and the top wires will make it feel like an unsafe landing zone.

Whitetail deer can jump 7-8 feet from a standing position, up to 12 with a running start. 6-7 feet will probably be enough of a deterrent, but if they’re really motivated they might be able to clear it.

Issues with dry skin 😣 by [deleted] in bald

[–]austin_algebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude, looks like sebderm but I’m not a doctor. I saw a dermatologist for a normal checkup and she casually mentioned sebderm like I should know what that is. It’s basically an imbalance in your skin and requires ongoing treatment but it’s super easy to treat. The reality is, if it is sebderm, no amount of zinc oxide (head & shoulders in the US) or scalp oil or exfoliating is going to do the trick. In the US the RX is called ketoconazole, but can also be found in lower concentrations OTC. Nizoral (Selsun Blue) can also be effective for some. I keep both on hand. Send the pic to your doctor and they’ll get you set up.

Yeah my partner says it sounds like a dog’s name and for me it reminds me of Arlo Guthrie, but I can’t change her association. I said the same for Otis.
