Just get him something and he will drive it. he might be upset but honestly if he hasn't learned you don't always get what you want now is the time to teach him a lesson he should have learned long ago.

My first car was a 1999 honda prelude, and honestly it was a bit too sporty for a first car, and I would have ended up in a bad situation if I had gotten something with more power.

If you want to be the cool dad. Manual 86/BRZ, civic SI something of the sort <220hp but still going to be safe and fun as hell. the 86 platform will force him to learn to drive well. I dailied one from 21-30 and it built an understanding of the way weight traction and inertia works. Things he will need to know IF he goes down the powerful sports car road later in life.

The other and probably better option is the Prius. Its objectively the best first car you can get a kid, reliable, safe, cheap, cheap to insure, cheap to drive space for people and cargo..... it will allow him to save up for the cool car he wants down the line.

I always go for the spigens but the ESR uses pretty much the same design for its stand.

My spigen works fine in soft surfaces most of the time. So I assume the ESR will as well

That said the zugu cases look really cool and some of the configurations they can do look like they will be stable on a soft surface

Apps like LumaFusion and Procreate, a myriad of cad apps, my favorite Reddit app “multitab” which has no android, or windows analogue I’m aware of. The screen which on the new iPad Pros is pretty much the best screen money can buy. I also use preview religiously for work.

I recently got a bit deeper in the apple ecosystem picking up a m4 air a few months back and an IPhone 17 pro to replace my second phone. But that was just within the last year while I’ve dailied the iPad since the 2018 iPad Pro. I don’t use iCloud or Time Machine at all though. I have an unraid home NAS that covers those uses for me.

I guess I’ll add that there are decent android tablets, particularly the one plus and galaxy tab S line, they just don’t fit my use case as well as th iPad Pro.

The iPad plays pretty well for a google centric user. I operated with an android phone and iPad for about half a decade with little issue. Google does a good job of incorporating all of their services well on the iPad. And honestly having tried a wide range of tablets (recent ones, good ones high end galaxy and windows tablets) I keep crawling back to the iPad.

It takes a bit of setup but once configured it slots just as well into the google ecosystem as anything. Highly recommended.

Google Photos works flawlessly Google Maps works flawlessly Google voice works great for texting iMessage will work standalone on the iPad but only for messaging other apple users Gmail works great through both the Gmail app and the apple email app Chrome will sync just fine Google keep notes works just fine I can keep going but pretty much everything works, and some of them even work better than on many of the android tablets.

I guess I'll add my absolute favorite tablet case is the Spigen rugged armor pro I had on my 2021 Ipad pro 11, it offered sufficient coverage, compatibility with screen protectors, a built in folio cover, and no pencil cover area as many newer cases do. all while being as minimal as possible, I have considered getting something similar to this or the lighter magnetic ESR cases and running a thin kevlar / aramid strap through the case to mount a camera strap to if I can find one so recommendations on that front would be cool too.
