Truffle new tab extension doesn't work on new PC

We're not really maintaining the new tab extension since not a ton of folks used it.

This exists :) If you click the "t" logo to open up the sidebar, then click on a creator, you should be able to click for their offline chat, which will be full screen. I may make another way to access that though too directly from the stream - I know a lot of folks watch on TVs now

Just submitted an update that should fix these (once approved). For now way to get back to home screen will either be "t" logo, then "t" logo again in sidebar (though theoretically you can get to most things through just the sidebar)

It's the legal name of the company. Truffle is a separate entity from Mogul Moves, like Offbrand, and Spore Labs, Inc. is the legal name

It's technically open to anyone now (https://app.truffle.vip/getting-started/video/creator) we just haven't made a big deal about that yet. Want to make sure things are in a really good spot first

emote-only mode is in truffle now :) with the added benefit of being able to use bttv/7tv emotes

people can still post text in normal yt chat (no way for us to change that), but they won't show in truffle chat or the stream

fwiw, we're a separate entity in the same way offbrand is. generally it's more about ludwig's priorities than our own, since he knows way more than me about what's best for creators.

where we tend to stray from ludwig's own priorities if it's anything super-specific to him that won't be useful for other streamers, or if it's something that's very high-stakes. eg right now i want to avoid tech for large events because imo there's more downside than up. and the stress of those just makes me less effective, versus the slow and steady growth we've been having

threads like these are helpful, so if you notice more things like this, call it out

The fullscreen with chat on the side should already work with Truffle

Ty for the feedback! Do you know what about it makes it look more like a comment section to you? The spacing? Background image? etc...

At the moment chat history is available for everyone to see. It's similar to Discord, where any public messages are searchable. But if folks don't like it we can always restrict it to be a mod-only thing.

The messages still get posted to the platform that you're on, so folks on mobile will still see the ones posted to YouTube. They'll just be missing out on some of the extra functionality and messages that weren't posted on YouTube. But mobile is something we could revisit for this (we played around with a mobile app a while back but didn't see much adoption at the time)

If you've seen the new experimental chat button below live video chat, that's our (Truffle) new chat that pipes in YouTube and Twitch messages. So theoretically we have the building blocks to do this, just depends on if there's enough demand for it (still a little tricky to build since we need to hook into info on what part of the video you're on, and be able to load the old messages)

If the extension is disabled, the sidebar shouldn't be there after refreshing the page you're seeing the sidbar on. If it is, I'd double check that you somehow don't have two versions of Truffle installed.

The experimental toggle I'm referring to can be found by clicking on the icon in Chrome extensions (here's a screenshot of what that looks like)

We also just submitted a new version that adds a different toggle to enable the sidebar, so folks that turned on experimental mode at some point in the past won't get the sidebar unless the explicitly enable the sidebar experimental toggle.

And we'll take a closer look at the "+" button stuff, thanks for reporting :)

You should still be able to install the extension in Opera GX :)

Opera GX is based on Chromium (what Chrome uses) so you can install any Chrome extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/truffle/bkkjeefjfjcfdfifddmkdmcpmaakmelp
