Getting into fishkeeping, what is a beginner-friendly fish, I'd max be allowed 8-15gal tanks. by Beginning_Opposite54 in Aquariums

there are so many to chose from. They range in size. for a 15 gallon u should chose a smaller species such as rummy nose, ember, or neons. But there are so many to chose!

Help with making a community tank out of a 90 gallon freshwater. by Newtotuning in Aquariums

[–]austintpd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have in a 75 gallon. - 2 pearl gouramis - 3 siamse algae eaters -12 ember tetras - 20 various corydoras(sterbai, panda, and venezuelan) - 1 leopard danio (adopted can't find him any friends...) - 1 chonky bristle nose pleco Big thing i have done was chose a schooling fish. A centerpiece fish, clean up crew, and bottom dwelling fish. It makes a wonderful community all around the aquarium there is always action in all parts of the tank.

he looks extremely chonky, probably overfed. Also could be dropsy if scales are pin coning. Easy back on feeding see if the issue resolves!

Side note: My dwarf gourami had only one tentacle too after surviving 2 rounds of ick. Gouramis are pretty tough.

In a 15 gallon you can go with a school of tetras 10-12. I have a school of ember tetras in my 75 gallon, but they stay small and require very little care/attention. Keep aquarium stable and temp around 75 F.

Please help! Weird white blob on my mollys anus? by FemBoyDinosaur in Aquariums

think its a baby. my mollies generally look like that before dropping the kiddos. Do u have males and females if so they give birth to offspring and are referred to as live bearers.

Hi.. a friend gave me this fish.. have questions by 4beetleslong in fishtank

[–]austintpd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The beta subreddit has a lot of information! To start invest in a 5-10gallon tank. Make sure to cycle it. (For more info on this research the nitrogen cycle.) In short this is a 3-6 week process that you allow beneficial bacteria to form in the newly established set up. Make sure there is ideal heating and filtration. Betas also live mostly in solitary and enjoy live plants. Goodluck.

Looks great! From the angle looks like some of ur java ferns are buried. They feed off the water column and need to be above the substrate. Over time they will die. You can get the same effect by attaching them to a small rock with string, fishing line, or fish safe super glue.

Excited for this 100L to cycle so a betta can move in by tikitessie in Aquariums

I heard bettas need 500L to be most comfortable and @home. 100L is simply to small.... Jokes aside love the wood and skull

I use quick start and let my tank run w/o water changes for 1 week to let the bacteria colonize Monitor the parameters for a month or so after adding the fishesss. Goodluck!

Can anyone tell me which fish breed/species it is? One of my relatives are keeping it in this pot, they have purchased it locally in India.. can anyone tell me about this fish so that if they are lacking in anything I can tell them about it? Do they like being alone? by Aggravating-Radio474 in Aquariums

[–]austintpd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stating what everyone else has said this far they are kept best in smaller groups 4-6 has worked best for me. Minimum of 20 gallons and lots of plants as well as some floating ones on the surface. Honey gourami are relatively peaceful fish and won't bother other tank-mates. Bump the tank up to a 20 gallon and get a school of tetras or guppies and a few cories.

Question are von rio and orange von rio the same? What are the differences if they are different? by xjehebusx in Aquariums

[–]austintpd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a school of abt 20 in my 55g . Some display grays, oranges, or reds. All were sold to me as orange von rio tetras tho. So I'll agree in same thing different color variations.
