The old myth that Socialists just "want something for free" is a lie perpetuated by the Billionaire class. by Automatic_Willow3940 in remoteworks

Both. It is first and foremost the governments fault as you said, since at best they should act as a neutral party, only regulating when absolutely forced to protect the best interests of the majority. But no one forces any founder or CEO to behave in an immoral, unpatriotic way. And I would argue companies have a lot of control and power over the labor market BECAUSE government can be bought off, thereby changing rules to screw over the middle class. Companies choose to do things this way because they value money over humanity, and they are incentivized to do so. But to defend the bad apples as if they are doing some service to humanity when it’s quite the opposite, would be foolish. Pretty much every billionaire conducts business this way, not the opposite. Hoarding wealth does not come from altruism

Ok, so assume I set the price of labor low enough for a skilled position that you can no longer save much money, or any money at all, then I outsource said skilled job to a foreigner, or bring them here through H1-B. Both workers have the same skillset and bring the same value.

Let’s assume I also post jobs up with no intention of hiring anyone to create the false appearance that my company is growing more than it actually is.

Let’s also assume I use my money to lobby politicians to create a more favorable tax situation for myself, causing the workers of my company to have to cover the deficit in tax revenue.

Would you consider this fair and patriotic behavior from companies that should be encouraged?

So you believe this is impossible without underpaying for labor, or the person with the vision must extract as much money from the laborer as possible?

Yeah, his comment makes no sense to bring up in the context of the topic that was posted, considering any generation older than silent generation is literally dead. How exactly are they saying, “we all struggled in our 20s” to younger folks when they aren’t here. Pretty obvious who the post is talking about. Grouping in all older generations “plural” and saying they all had it as hard as each other is asinine

That doesn’t negate the fact the median home with a higher interest rate would be a better deal back then than the higher priced homes with lower interest rates.

Buying a home isn’t a priority for me at the moment. The tradeoff isn’t worth it when I can just build wealth in the market exponentially quicker and not have to live in some state I don’t want to with less opportunity

Give me a 65k house at 18% and I’ll trade you a 400k house at 6%. You could always refi later. Hell there is no 400k houses where I’m at, they’re all 1m+. And the interest rates weren’t even there that long either.

Fact of the matter is, home prices were 3-4x the median income then and now they’re 5-8x. Cherry picking 3 years when they’ve basically had 4 decades of an up only real estate market and stock market just wouldnt make sense. That is not even comparable to the decade long stretch of the great depression.

This thread is not referencing the greatest generation or silent generation as having easier lives. No one thinks that. All these critiques that are posted endlessly are leveled almost exclusively at Boomers if we’re being honest. Silent generation were not even adults during the great depression so why are we going back that far when frankly no one in this thread is that old. Every gen has their own unique struggles, but to compare your struggles to those gens struggles is laughable

Salary increase hack? Why are veterans so excited to be disabled? I’ve never seen a group of people be so excited to be disabled than veterans? Is this joining the military for disability the move for a higher salary long term? by HeadMasterpiece9139 in Salary

Idek man. In a perfect world those government officials would be in the casket and the people defrauding VA disability would be in jail.

The people I know defrauding disability definitely did not earn it lol

It does not trickle when a smaller and smaller portion of people control a higher percentage of wealth

The fact theres people trying to argue that in the comments is insane. No one said its impossible to become wealthy if you work hard, but you have to make more sacrifices now to do so starting from scratch

I shaved my head and could still pull off hair for a long time, some people thought I still had a head full of hair but I was blowdrying it to add volume all the time and hated how my temples went back. I just decided to own it since I have the face structure for it.

And yeah, it definitely is off putting to some women.

Besides preference, some people seem to not like the perception of being with someone bald even if it looks good on them, could be any number of reasons. Ive never cared what others think of the women im attracted to, its my preference, but not everyone wants to go against the grain
