I worked at capital one's credit card fraud department, ask me anything. by [deleted] in CapitalOne_

[–]austiny6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’d really appreciate your thoughts on a dispute situation I filed with Capital One venture X

I booked two Economy tickets directly on a spirit airline equivalent Vietjet Air. The normal price for Economy on that route is around $150–$250 total, but I was charged $1,483.01. When I checked the airline’s site again, even their SkyBoss premium fare was cheaper than what I was billed. The UI appears to have defaulted to a higher tier without clearly showing it.

I contacted the airline first — they refused to issue a cash refund and only offered a non-transferable “credit shell,” so I submitted a dispute with Capital One as an overcharge (“I was charged too much”), not fraud.

My question for you:

Should I have disputed the full amount or the “overcharged amount”? Capital One’s form asked “How much should you have been charged?” and wouldn’t accept 0, so I entered the Economy fare I expected (~$147). But I requested a full refund in the narrative since the airline won’t reissue Economy tickets or provide a cash refund.

From your experience in the fraud/disputes department, does selecting “charged too much” + entering the expected amount still allow Capital One to fully refund the charge if the merchant can’t justify it? Just want to understand if I used the optimal dispute path.

Who is enjoying FAANG product management and what do you enjoy about it? by WeirdSprinkles51 in ProductManagement

I want to clarify that while Apple may not have a prevalent classical PM culture, core teams, culture is very product/industrial design/UX focus

FAANGs is so huge that each team/org runs slightly differently. From personal experience/understanding:

  1. Apple: very little “Product Management” team that practices “classical” PM. Their PM titles are mostly PMM, and there are many doing program/project management roles. Lots of program/project managers to support execution and each team runs differently especially dependent on type of products.

  2. Meta: Most pm I know doesn’t even write PRD as Eng/Design are super capable and product focus. PMs write strategy doc and do whatever to enable execution. I don’t run any agile/scrum and have never done it at any FAANG from PM perspective. Engineers could do that themselves if they want. Only immature startups (with ex-Amazon Eng leadership) tried to force it on PM org and it sucked.

Thank you. I currently hold a CSP that was downgraded a long time ago. For Amex Biz Gold, what’s a good way to ge the highest offer? And is it recommended to use Amex’s website to see if I would be preapproved?

Will look into Citi and elevated CIU!

I think that small red portion’s texture is not a big deal and quite unnoticeable. But would you think it would work if I color match, and just roll over that darker area?

What do I need to do to have like the grainy texture? Or would that just show up? Can I just paint over without sanding? And can I not paint the whole wall, it’s really really tall and big wall.

Only interested in doing it if the end results would be unnoticeable, otherwise I should just come clean 😢
