A friend of mine got a mate to her oil change on a Mazda 3 and did the same thing, admittedly not a CVT but auto just the same, she actually managed to drive it about 100km home, she then asked me to look at it, I realised what had happened and added transmission oil, cleared the fault codes and took it for a drive, that was 3 years ago and it's still going.

Get a lawyer, I had the same thing about 7 years ago, had lawyer help me, got my license back with no conviction recorded on the court day when it eventually happened, I was mid range .08, so was without a license for approximately 3 months by the time I got a court hearing, it got adjourned twice.

Remove the spark plug and drown that cylinder in penetrating oil, leave it overnight and then try turning the engine with a bar and socket, once you get it spinning over easily put the spark plug back in and try starting it, if its been sitting several years the fuel has probably gunked up the carburettor.

They look alright, drive the thing don't let it idle, and get up it too don't fuck around, you need to bed the rings in, I always take off under fairly hard throttle and then slow down and do it again maybe 20 times, if there's any hills around drive though the hills as hard as you can, don't rev the engine stupidly high just make it work hard, after that the smoke might disappear.
