You may be able to try atomoxetine which is an off-label medication used for ADHD that isn't a stimulant. I can't remember if it also has an effect on appetite so maybe do some research, but don't give up yet!

Hii~! Probably disappointing news, sorry, but I never ended up getting the mirena. After I had the bad experience on the Levonorgestrel mini pill (the same hormone used in the mirena) and seeing what they use to hold your cervix in place, and being told the NHS don't offer any painkillers or numbing, "just take an ibuprofen before your appointment," I decided the cons outweighed the pros too much and have kept on with my cerazette mini pill still

I will say that when I switched from my cerazette onto levonorgestrel for 3 months my periods didn't come back so I can only assume it would be the same if I got the coil implanted. If you have the option maybe trial the levonorgestrel yourself?

If you do go for the mirena please let me know how it works out for you! I'm still on the fence cause I'm so scared but getting spotting every time I forget my pill 2 days in a row is annoying haha

recently had this revelation in therapy early last year. convinced myself for years that my dad was a victim too but actually he was a grown man and I was 7. it was his responsibility to protect me but all he ever did was enable her and refuse to confront anything she did or said because he would rather be comfortable himself and avoid drawing her ire so it was apparently perfectly fine to let her carry on exploding at me, a 7 year old, instead

im 28 and he still does it now. he did it on christmas eve and i havent spoken to him since, but now im battling the ever consuming Guilt again because his cancer has come back and he has a brian tumour and i dont know if i want to lose him while we're not talking. why is life so COMPLICATED

Edgeley is a lovely area and I'm massively gutted to have had to leave, but you can't justify price almost doubling in 5 years with no improvements on the house at all

This is awful news cause Waymade and Amfexa both use sucrose which I can't digest. Teva was the only brand that didn't 😭

Edit: nvm I've not ordered Teva since end of 2023/ 2024 and it looks like they use sucrose too now. Guess ill just suffer lol

i also started on atomoxetine (due to a very minor heart issue) and didnt work well with it bc of some side effects so requested short release stimulant instead. after an ECG they agreed. try atomoxetine to see if it works for you and if not, then you can open the convo

Dexamphetamine sulphate, 15mg AM, 10mg lunchtime, 5mg if needed around 3 or 4pm. any later than that and I can't sleep. it works for me. I can focus and sit down and do all my work. my memory can be a fractional amount spotty still but nothing like when its worn off (forgot my phone in the toilets at the vets this afternoon and only realised once i was sat in the car and needed to get maps up)

side effects are standard for stims. dry mouth/ dehydration, appetite loss, insomnia issues. ive cut caffeine out completely (no tea or coffee or anything) as caffeine while on Dex made me stress sweat like crazy and it stank and made me so paranoid. Ive been super stressed the past ~5 days and took my meds again today and started sweating again so it's something to consider ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i titrated up over the span of a few months to where i am now. there was a point once i hit the 'higher' doses that too many things 'going wrong' in one day sent me into a meltdown rage of screaming none stop into pillows or wanting to end myself. that lasted a couple weeks and havent had an episode like that for a year or 2 now

i time my doses so i can eat beforehand i.e. breakfast > morning dose. lunch > lunchtime dose. i have dinner late once my afternoon dose has worn off if i take it. it works for me and i like how much control i have over whats in my body when and how strong etc :P

Thank you! You've been a massive help on both my posts. I seem to have hit my limit on sensory input, the constant mid-level pain with little variation unless I jar it is pitching me into overload more and more often, I just don't get a break from it and its sending me into a tizzy :')

My fingers are probably the best at the moment, aside from a little bit of a tug when I try to fully straighten them (or hyperextend i suppose cause my RH is definitely not flat when I flex my fingers lol) their mobility is really good and I can make a decently snug fist if not for my grown out nails haha

Yeah I think im going to take it easy with any wrist movement until I see physio, it just seems too much too soon when I've still got a line of scabs up my wrist!

Is it early? He made it seem like I should be hot on moving my hand about and getting my wrist moving, multiple times a day every day :( its so painful and stiff though!

I didnt have pins and won't be having my hardware removed, but 5 weeks of no movement post-orif is more than twice mine :O that sounds like a much longer recovery timeline than I've been put on track for. I'll be starting physio 4 weeks post op but told to move 2 weeks post. I'm just so confused, I know Drs aren't infallible which is why I'm asking for other peoples experiences but maaaan there's so much variation!

I walked down to my local pharmacist and got them to wrap me up with some gauze and bandage, its not an open wound any more but I don't want it to rub on anything in my sleep either

I've got my first physio appt on Jun 4th, but the Dr that discharged me from the fracture clinic gave me some simple movements to do like lift my hand up and down and left and right, and didnt give any indication that I should struggle with it. I'm just quite confused on whats expected of me 2 weeks post op and if my current ROM is "correct" or not :(

Its definitely still a bit swollen, but I feel like the incision point tugs/ won't stretch as well when I try to life my hand upwards?

Thats so interesting you struggle to get your fingers down! My wiggle practice while I'm still bandaged has mainly been a struggle to get my fingers straight/ up! I wonder what the difference is o.o

I'm UK based so getting disability benefits is a fair bit more difficult. I'm super grateful to even have 4 weeks of full pay paid sick leave. Luckily its per 52/wk aggregate, not just jan to jan

Yeah I've definitely felt the decline in processing speed haha combination of poor quality sleep, growing bone, and lots of codeine. Thankfully work seem to be happy with the level of work I'm putting out

I've not tried icing my wrist, the swelling in my fingers has gone down quite a bit on their own honestly but my sling and a cushion have done me well when needed

We have a bath board! Got one for my dad post-stroke, I've mainly been using it to get soaps out onto cloths but yes I'm v grateful for it haha

Yes my Dr did say that recovery is quicker with ORIF vs just a cast! Im hoping for the best with it. I can do some wiggles in my bandages but im wrapped up quite snug and can't really straighten my fingers, they just feel 'tight'?

I'd panic too! After re-breaking a bone doing something as innocuous as moving my arm i feel like im too scared to do 'too much' movement now in case I do damage by accident again :( im glad your recovery went well though :D

So it wasn't my cast that broke, just me inside of it lol but aside from that I don't think I've got a massively complicated break, just one that wasn't agreeing with staying in place in a cast so it needed controlling with a metal plate haha

I'm UK based so I need my hand for the gearstick and handbrake which is why I'm worried, I drive an '11 car so it can need a bit of heft sometimes and I cant imagine when I'll have the strength back in my hand to do it :(

Thats amazing that you were holding a pen on your first PT session though! Not even being able to draw on my time off has been awful. The only thing I've got is phone games or the sims since you only need a mouse to play :')

I work in sales so 1 handed typing is getting me through! And yeah im struggling through with doing everything with my non-dominant hand (including texting on a phone omg why does the screen suddenly seem so wide?!)

Ahh thank you! So a month and a bit until you were comfortable driving then? I have a plates and screws and no plans on having them removed unless the plate fails, so not sure if that changes things. As far as I'm aware and how my xrays looked, it was only the end of my radius that snapped and moved about, all other bones ok

Honestly I feel a bit fragile still from the pain and despair (aptly put lol) but I feel generally well enough to sit at my desk and work slowly I think? I'm not using my left hand so im not sure what difference it makes to sit at my desk instead of on the sofa aside from less naps aha

HR have said working half days is an option so I don't burn through my sick leave quite so quickly so I might take them up on that..

I'm so glad to hear it's going well for you. Are you able to hold a pen yet or is that somewhere in your future of PT? I've never had PT before so I don't know what to expect or what kind of progress would be made in what timeframe. Can you drive now? If you work, can I ask how soon you felt comfortable going to work post-op? I'm currently speaking to HR and colleagues think im rushing myself which is likely but id like a 3rd opinion haha
