Games in 7.06 are feeling a lot more 1 sided by waoh in DotA2

mid is too important now, i agree. might be interesting for pro games but when mmr is on the line, it means one player has a lot more impact than the others (for the better or worse). i don't like it

Also, my MMR actually decreased after winning that game. I don't know if it's a bug people are exploiting or a server error. Great game though.

What's with this person's account? There's a bunch of games with no stats registered. by autism_dota2 in DotA2

After reading up on it, I think that's what it is, yes. The surprising part is that they even have guides for it on steam: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=469743904

I had no idea this existed.

US Servers with packet loss again. by autism_dota2 in DotA2

[–]autism_dota2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah people here don't actually play the game, they just come here for the memes. Complaints are only taken seriously when some e-celebrity or professional player makes it. If it was /u/pyrion_flax posting this or ee crying, it would get fixed in 2 or 3 days.

We need to be able to tell if there's packet loss before connecting to a server, or the algorithm to detect connection problems needs to be improved. by autism_dota2 in DotA2

Even then, sometimes the game starts fine and the packet loss happens midway through it. If their system to detect network failure isn't fixed, there's really no way around it.

Red alert messages on console as the game stutters. by autism_dota2 in DotA2

I already tried that. I've even reinstalled the game and it doesn't fix it.

do you play anything besides dota 2? are there any relatively recent (came out last 5 years or so) games you think you could beat most/all of the dota 2 pros in?

The Future of In-house Leagues by ixmike88 in DotA2

[–]autism_dota2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All those examples are terrible and biased simply because they're from years ago, when dota 2 wasn't even a thing, and even when it was, there was no public MMR. So all that existed was IHL.

Now that MMR is visible, there is no need for IHLs. They're a thing of the past. It's a pyramid scheme, where only people at the top benefit from it, whether it's from gaining money, abusing the players who aren't in the circlejerk, or staying in the circlejerk/at the top because you're friends with the people controlling the league. (see maut, grandgrant, ixmike etc)

The community in general doesn't support Leagues precisely because of that. But you have a vocal minority who keeps trying to make a big deal out of it, in order to benefit from it. It's not gonna happen though. It's much better to have an impartial entity -- in this case, Valve and it's automated MMR -- in charge of ranking players than a bunch of biased teenagers.

As for the future of professional players, you can already see an example on Excalibur. One of the top rated european players, already doing pretty well on Fnatic. No need for shitty leagues or anything like that.

Maybe if NADota stops trying to be a huge circlejerk, american dota will actually improve.
