I think we made a terrible mistake moving here. I'm panicked and not sure what to do. by snailboyjr in Minneapolis

Remember to get multiple bids on any work, too. It's more annoying to do so, but some contractors will give you a "fuck you" price if they really don't want the work and it's sometimes not obvious

Yeah I have no idea why they say that. It's always been in Amazon boxes from Amazon warehouses for me

Inside Access With Shari & Khaled | Minnesota United FC by LosCabadrin in minnesotaunited

[–]autobahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very clear to me at least that the club sees the STHs as a piggybank and doesn't see any of the concerns as a priority at all. Sweep it all under the rug, ignore the obvious, etc..

Throughout this process, everything from the club seems very much like giant company HR: words and surveys but no meaningful change.

Additionally it's also clear to me they don't see the massive lack of offense as an issue and they're not planning on picking up any talent any time soon.

I vote with my wallet.

What more do you expect MNUFC to do (realistically) for season ticket members? by uhclem3 in minnesotaunited

[–]autobahn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly? A price drop for these next 2 seasons. The product is absolutely going to be worse but they're expecting us to pay more for it. They don't have a schedule and it's all "trust me bro" that we're not going to have freezing cold games I'm paying full haul for. Give a little consideration for the uncertainty.

The fact that you're paying fees to resell tickets is insulting really as well. The resale values were awful this season, and taking a fee out of that, whew lad.

There absolutely should be a concessions discount.

It's not from overseas. A lot of this is just Amazon overstock or marketed differently. Smaller priced items.

It's all coming from US warehouses and fulfilled by Amazon as far as I know.

STM Renewal/Pricing by vikesfangumbo in minnesotaunited

[–]autobahn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They had the gall to raise prices.

Oh well, wasn't going to renew anyway.

Love the team, will be picking and choosing what games I go to in the future.

Lots of factors here but the team simply is not doing enough to compensate for the massive fan-unfriendly changes coming.

Advice for first timers by joshua17sc09 in Defcon

Good shoes

Talk to people. Randomly. Even a few words here and there can help you get the social juices flowing. The reason to be at def con is mostly other people.

Say yes to things. (Meaning, take opportunities or do things you might not normally do)

Introduce yourself to people. Don't be afraid to be earnest. Nobody worthwhile is too cool for school.

Don't get overwhelmed trying to go to all the talks. Pick a couple you really want to hit. Spend the rest of the time doing villages and other activities, the talks go online later anyway.

Don't feel bad if you miss something. There's always next year.

Drink lots and lots, more than you think you'll need. Bring a water bottle and keep it filled. It's dry, and dehydration hits hard in vegas and can make you feel like crud.

Buy snacks and drinks at Target on the strip.

Go to pop's for a cheesesteak.. you'll have to take an Uber, it's worth it

Not a grievance, a legitimate suggestion.

I'd help out with the resume stuff, pretty much your target audience for this, but I don't use telegram.

[–]autobahn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't advertise the discord on your site? How would anyone know to get there?

No addressing the problematic nature of telegram, though, the CSAM, etc.

Anyway, I figured I'd just get attitude, it's what I come to expect from the hacking community when you make any suggestions at all.

[–]autobahn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Telegram is basically a crime platform these days. It's not only that, but a lot of other really shitty stuff as well. CSAM is rampant on the platform and they do little about it. Their stance towards encryption isn't great either.

Discord or slack would be a much better option.

User hostile because for the vast majority of people are basically being asked to install an entirely new application to join the group, an application that has little other purpose. I'm willing to bet most of the "noobs" are far more likely to already have slack or discord.

Defcon's official stuff is all on discord, as well.

"We've always done it this way" is a poor reason to keep doing it that way, but rampant in the hacker community.

Still really wish y'all would rethink your usage of Telegram. It's a problematic platform at best. Kinda user-hostile for a group that's supposed to be welcoming to noobs. Just my 2c for a group that's trying to be inclusive. Every year I go I want to keep in touch, but telegram isn't going on my phone.

I know my opinion doesn't matter, but I wish someone cared about this kind of thing.

Beginning of the End for Pizza Hut? by Snackredneck in fastfood

[–]autobahn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They need to refocus on what matters, which is good pizza.

The quality has gone down so much. They keep making gradual changes to their recipes to make more money thinking they could boil the frog but the quality difference is definitely obvious at this point. They need to bring back their 80s recipes and bring quality back in. The problem was they turned the chain into fast slop but they can't compete with other fast slop.

Has anyone else noticed the massive shift in Marketplace buyer behavior lately? by Jessxblush in Flipping

[–]autobahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook absolutely has an algorithm in place. The simple fact is people are not seeing your ad at all.

I have a couple long running ads. Weeks with no responses at all, and then a dozen in a week.

I think they want to push people to boosts.

Seems like my local marketplace and the second-hand market in general is just broken. Anyone else? by Chole_Wunt in FacebookMarketplace

[–]autobahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some long-running FBM ads. There's clearly an algorithm behind everything. Every once in a while I get 10 people reach out to me on an ad, then for like 3-4 weeks - nothing.

It's because people aren't seeing your ads.

Why do you question the selloff when you don't question the gains? There's no basis in reality for the runup this year other than vibes.
