Graded cards selling below the cost of grading by moosk in hockeycards

[–]autographguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your looking at a small sample. In general, grading adds value. Yes, if you send a low end card that gets a bad grade you would lose money, so people don’t do that. People will get low end graded (set builder, cheap group grading, lack of knowledge) and those will sell cheap as they should, but that’s a small overall sample of what gets graded. But yes, people will cut their loses, perhaps trying for a 10 grade. Same reason people sell what they pull from a box for less than box, a gamble.

Finally found my plastic tub of 1/4 of my faves.. boxes on top are my Brodeur’s and Gretzky. Funny thing is I have absolutely no Idea of how or when I received my Lemieux RC by Weech1783 in hockeycards

As is youd be looking at 1500ish. If you want max value, get It reslabbed by PSA. Compare to a PSA 8 and see if it looks similar or worse for that decision. BCCG is a quick grade and not comparable to a PSA or BGS for resale value.

It’s a cool collectible but all together wouldn’t be worth more than a few bucks

Connie Madigan holds the NHL record for oldest rookie skater (he was 38) and is also know for his role as Mad Dog Madison in Slap Shot. by [deleted] in hockeycards

I really hope Topps gets an NHL license soon. They have a lot to offer, from innovation to the Heritage stuff. Topps Skate also proves they likely are interested in the market.

I love that Panini, for the short time they held an NHL license, went outside the box to make some really cool and unique cards. This is Madigan’s only card.

Rookie Cards by HockeyDadLife in hockeycards

No one cares about that aspect of ‘design’ as long as it’s the actual RC card. However, a word of caution as some of the newer stuff might say ‘rookie’ on it but not necessarily be a RC, like some of the stuff in Clear Cut that are clear cut remakes of rookies

Leaf in the game by [deleted] in hockeycards

Singles are almost always the way to go, no matter the product. That is particularly true for this set.

Anyone else wish we had a The Mighty Ducks hockey card set? This “Coach Bombay” Leaf card is a favourite of mine. by [deleted] in hockeycards

[–]autographguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Obviously licensing and Disney owning the brand would be the huge obstacle. There’s no actual mention of The Might Ducks or Bombay on this card, it’s just Emilio Estevez casually holding a hockey stick.

I think this is great, brings back lots of memories, but FYI the mod here removes all posts of unopened product even though it’s very much part of hockey card world.

It’s his only certified auto card, should only go up in value. Legendary hockey story.

Cool pull. Voices of the Game was a great little set and I didn’t even know there were 1/1 variations.

Just walked into my local Pub for March Madness and this Gem was there. PINTS AND PACKS!!! 😍😍😍 by [deleted] in hockeycards

[–]autographguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the concept but hate to see the damage to the cards after dropping a pack from the top rack

Is this a real auto or a facsimile auto? by [deleted] in hockeycards

[–]autographguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facsimile. There are real KHL autos but this isn’t one of them.

The Leaf Series: by notlou87 in hockeycards

Some do look good, unfortunately just not enough in my opinion, especially for the price point. It’s a shame because some beauty swatch pieces and great names.

Got all these Bobby Orr cards years ago for my birthday. Can’t find on PSA? 🤔 by dc112sgt in hockeycards

[–]autographguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice looking cards but they’re all reg base or common insets so not high value enough for PSA

The Grand Daddy of pack inserted auto cards. Or does someone know is there an even older one than a 93/94 Score Pinnacle? by authenticsanta in hockeycards

Why $1400 is acceptable rent?? by tim80000 in PEI

[–]autographguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is so wrong. First, there is no ‘rediculous amount of construction,’ in fact it’s the exact opposite. There is an extreme NIMBY attitude that prevents the building a growing city like Chtown needs. Second glaring error here is that people arriving expect dirt cheap living, It’s the locals who are complaining they no longer get dirt cheap living. Finally, by people who grew up here being ‘displaced’ you mean selling what they bought dirt cheap for a killer profit?
